I use 95 in my old Valiant (plus flaslube) with great results, so in a couple weeks when the XF is back on the road i think i'll use it in it too. Its the unleaded model, and i dunno if it will make bugga all difference, but in the Valiant it gets me roughly an extra 4-5 ks a litre. 98 gives me not much more. I tried the 98 octane with ethanol in the valiant once, and carby people beware, it stuffed the gaskets on the carby, and as far as i know they havent made any ethanol suitable gaskets yet

I only use shell V-Power (98 octane), with Flash Lube (old engine). A few of the times I have used 95 octane I got pre-ignition so I stopped using it.

91 octane regular fuel from Caltex. There wouldn't be much point putting anything better into my '92 volvo :hihi:.

I run Vortex all the time. and price wise it is not that different.... to me anyway

My car has an 80 litre tank, that I don't normally let get down to less at 15 litres. If I put 65 litres of PULP in it, the difference in cost, normally about 8 cents a litre, between regular and PULP works out to be about 5 or 6 bucks..... which is less than what some people would spend on bottles of coke, or coffees in a week. I don't smoke or drink either, so I use some of that money to buy the higher grade fuel. My car runs better and gets about 15k's more range.

Until PULP is like 20 or 30 a litre difference, I will not use UL unless there is nothing else.

Cheers Envi

LPG, VSI system. So I lose a little off the top end. Big Deal. Atm fuel costs costs are less than half what they would be if I was running petrol.

Here's my sums:

Average LPG refuel price/litre, c/L: 47.9

Gross up by 15% for the extra gas I burn over petrol = 55.09

(I've checked this heaps of times, difference is always about 15%)

Average petrol price/L atm: $1.20

0.55/1.20 = 45.8%

In my case it means I save about $75 per week, or $3,900 per year. Even if you knock a couple of hundred a year off that for the extra plugs and leads I go through, I'm still well ahead.

Laughin.

Yeah, agree, although my cost per km is about twice yours. I'm guessing you do a lot of highway km? Are you a 6 or 8? I have a V8 in the city.

I used to go through two tanks of petrol a week. $150 or so a week, it was killing me.

Changed to gas, and it was a good weekly bonus till the missus realised how much less I was spending on fuel, and insisted on her half share of the savings...fair enough I suppose. :

I've been using the Shell Unleaded 95 in the XR8.

Been running like a dream. Still expensive though.

I run mine on 95 octane. Used to run it on 91 but it started pinging.

Hopefully I can start running it on BBQ fuel again soon when my new injectors finally come in.

Lol yeah tell me about it. I've used it, it's awesome stuff, but with prices where they are, it's just too expensive.

Mark tries to use VPR as much as possible in the XR8 but again, the price. Lol I remember telling Mark to fill up and it got to (I think it was) $90 and I said "ummmmm you can stop now" :

98 or 95 for me dont really look at the price of petrol. its only usualy 5cent or so more that regular so it only ends up being about 3-6 bucks more.

same here. i just look at the TOTAL and it's going to hurt either way.

98 premium. gets rid of nasty pings and pre-ignition on mine.
