what woulds win.
My mate reckons a 1987 VL will beat my 94 ED but I think the ED will thrash it. The VL is a 3.0litre Inline 6 The ford is a 4.0litre Inline 4 Both are stock |

depends on transmission.
the vl will get you off the line, but you should reel it in top end. vl's are lighter, and also have shorter diff gears.

yea, if his is a manual it will have you.. unfortunately. a 5 speed conversion would change it though.
if you were having a rolling start from 40 onwards I would put all my money on you, but off the line you would get nailed

my mate had a VL 5 speed and it would eat and spit out my old EA (MPI 4 speed auto) and stomp on its fresh 3.9L heart

Id say your ED would win, purely on the fact that your motor is about 8 years newer than the VL's. So in affect the age difference would have an effect on the VL engine. Also depends on how good the VL driver can shift. Auto's are pretty consistant, so id say you would easily be able to win by at least a car length. Make sure you take all your crap out of your boot, fill up your car on about half/quarter of premium and hope for the best on the quarter mile. |

[QUOTE=SVT8]thats a shocking time when you look at weight to power ratio. Stock auto ED's run low 16's
Power doesnt shift the weight, torque does, and the ED has bucket loads more. |
