Default Fuel gauge

Anyone finding that when they go to fill up because their fuel gauge is showing empty that their tank only takes 36-39 litres. Having a margin of 5 litres i can't understand but not nearly 10.

And it seems to be getting worse.

Maybe i am just going crazy waiting for someone other than ford to have the software to get into my computer and sort out my O2 sensors.

I often fill mine as the light has just come on (it just works out that way). It always takes 39-40lts when i fill it if the light has only just come on.
I got 41-42lt into it once after driving about 30klm to work with the light on, which going by my adverage fuel consumtion is about right.

Your o2 Sensor won't affect the fuel gauge nor the light.

I don't know about the WP, but in the WQ the fuel light comes on at 80km til empty. Could be the same in the WP.

I must say the guage on the WP is hopeless. Sometimes is very accurate then it will go loopy for a bit and then back to normal.

Ive driven 60km with the guage showing NO bars (Was at uni with no money)

What's the WP fuel gauge like? Is it a lcd graphical think like the echo? That's pretty terrible. I've known a couple of folks caught out because of it.

Haemophiliac - I'm with you on this. I have a WP and have only once filled more than 40 litres. The light was on, all bars diappeared plus I had done another 60 or so Km and filled a whopping 41.5L.

Since then, I've driven it right up to 580Km on the trip odo (all bars gone + 40Km), and still only filled 39L. And, as you said, it seems to want to fill earlier.

My driving is a 35 / 65 mix city / highway. Haven't a clue what the hey is going on.

My old Liberty had 10L left in the tank once you hit the empty mark. My theory was because the fuel pump is kept cool by fuel, they give you leeway on the empty mark to stop you frying the pump.
