Hi,
I own a mk1 panelvan, I purchased a chrome diff for it, minus axles and centre,and want to remove my running parts to install into the chrome diff. I have removed the panelvan diff,unbolted the diff head bolts and am stuck on removing one remaining axle? Cheers,Zane |

Worse comes to worse, source another diff. IF you are having trouble removing the axel, it might well be bent.

I had a similar problem on the last restoration we did, am assuming the bearing and everything is free....if not this is what we did.....jack the car up and support it with stands or somethign solid......take the brake drum off and place it back on the studs but the wrong way round so the inside of the drum is facing outwards......bolt it on with the wheel nuts.......get a BIG hammer, a lump hammer we used to call them when i was a sparkie, and give it a few really hard firm strong hits.......this could take a fair degree of effort but we got it out in the end. The car was a bit of a hack and the bearing was rock solid, once we did this and freed the bearing, the axle slid straight out.....not saying you have the same problem but maybe worth a go.....cheers
