After having gone through a few years of buyings NOS parts through car clubs, ebay etc I often used to say to myself - if only I had known I would have bought 100 of these when they were still available from Ford/Holden.
As an example NOS dash knobs, SS Torana ash trays etc etc which used to go for $100+ on ebay and sometimes a lot more. So what does everyone think are the parts to get to put away ? FPV gear knobs ? GT badges ? FPV floor mats ? Is it even worth it give the starting price of these parts. |

not a bad idea FPV badged parts might be the go, have you seen what some people are paying for a tickford snorkel on ebay.

I think that finding GT parts in the future wont be near as hard and expensive as getting them these days ( xa-xb gt ) who knows, it might well be worth stashing some parts away.
I often entertain the thought of buying a brand new car and sit it on bricks for 25 years ( all the 'winterising' steps taken of course! ) My friends father has all brand new hang on panels, dash, seats for an xw he is restoring, he didn't do a bad job of predicting how hard it would be to get brand new parts 30 years on hey?! |

all you have to do is look at australias population 30 years ago and how many say xy's they sold.
look at australias population today and minus about 70% of the xy's they built (write offs stolen etc) and see the demand not only for the cars but the parts and make your own calculations for today and the future. |

i remember working at a wreckers almost 20years ago
the owner came across a SLR 5000 ashtray with "SLR" on the front he wanted $300 back then for it. i'd hate to think what it'd be worth now another was a XT GT steering wheel for $3000 10 years ago
