I don't think an auto XR8 is that much slower than a manual - maybe about 0.3 sec difference down the quarter. These big V8s produce good torque which certainly helps the auto.

My auto XR8 series 2 has done a 15.27 with just a cat-back

Did you notice any difference with the cat back?
If autos are 3/10ths slower, then yours would be comparable to my best in the manual, but my mph was slightly higher too - 91mph.

GTP owner, do you remember your 60 foot time? My old series 2 el (auto) did a best of 15.1 @ 90mph, no major mods just a 3" cat back exhaust, but my 60 foot was only 2.2, maybe the manuals get off the line a bit better.

Best 60 foot was 1.9 something, with an average of just on 2.0, so yes the manuals must hook up just a bit better.
