Hi all my laser stoped dead on the way to work yesterday and i was wondering if anyone can help me work out whats wrong with it.
While i was driving along the enging just stoped dead and i rolled to a stop ( has half a tank of fuel so its not that). When i turn the key and the starter motor turns the engine it sounds different, sort of whinney. Now ive checked the vitals, when i twist the throtle fuel squirts into the carby so fuel is getting in. I took out a sparkplug and checked that it still had compression so i dont think i killed it. I also checked that the sparkplug was sparking while it was out and yes it was (although it was more of a yellow spark than a strong blue one. Im out of ideas it just wont kick over. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Im desperate i haveto get it going again to get to work. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated |

It must be contageous. My kids' KC died on Friday. There was an intermittent "stalling" in the hour leading up to the failure. The car just stopped a few times but could be restarted. Then it stopped and refused to start.
Unlike chookaz_351, I can't get any spark. There is voltage at the coil primary, but no kick out of the HV side. I pulled the distributer cap off, and there are no points! Must be electronic ignition?? Am I most likely up for a new electronics module?? Can anybody suggest anything for either of us? Mike |

I spent a lot of time and then a lot of money solving the wrong problem with my laser recently. Symptoms were the car wouldn't start, or started then ran rough or died completely. As my missus had recently run the tank dry I suspected fuel blockage. Long story made short - the cause (missed also by an experienced laser mechanic) turned out to be a crack in the centre post of the distributor cap. Check out your distributor cap and leads. There's nothing like the damp weather to make these problems come about.
