Not really the reason the Porsche engine is so good is because it's in a quarter of a million dollar car.

Anybody who has had a look at the engine bay of a Suby can see what a annoying and hard to fit design the boxer is.

If Ford was pricing Typhoons at 300 grand you would see similar performance figures.

It never ceases to amaze me how photos always seem to "get leaked". Well done to the engineers tho at Porsche

Its actually a flat 6. The boxer 6 is fitted to the Boxster.

I get your point, but was just pointing out, the performance available from inducted 6's these days is amazing. Hell even the non inducted Porsche 6 spits out 245kw in base form. So somehwere out there I imagine there has to be a cost effective, relatively reliable design that will deliver both the power and the torque Falcon is looking for.

And there is a difference between a Flat 6 and boxer 6?

Apologies, thinking inline as opposed to boxer

No, a boxer engine is a form of a flat engine. It's more of a specific term.

It is a good point though admittedly I remember reading somwhere that the Flat6 is the PERFECT engine design from a balance perspective it's packaging is just crap though.

It still amazes me as well how powerful sixes are.

I mean the Barra190 is making more power than a XR8 from 10 years ago and a Intech from 10 years ago made more power than a V8 falcon from 10 years before it.

Where will it end?
