Default Heathcote 01/05/05

I ran a new PB at Heathcote today, 14.211@97.17mph
Great day at heathcote, only 10 cars racing and under 20°C.
Only sour note was XC302's transmission blew up on the drive home.

My 60 foot time was 2.066.
Yeah I took him back in my car, then hired a trailer and towed the car back.

Just got back from the auto shop, the bloody sump plug on the high volume sump fell out (must have been vibration) and unloaded all the fluid. Luckily no damage. These things must be tough as nails.

Glad to hear its not all bad news, but this shouldn't happen, maybe a little hard setting gasket cement would make sure it dont come out again.

Identical setup to the FF meet at heathcote where I ran a 14.48 with a 2.25 60' time.
Turns out I was running too low pressure in the rears and leaving them at 30psi fixed up my 60' times.
I'm running 225 15" Sumitomo HTR60's.

That's unusual that increasing the pressures made the 60ft times drop.

Excellent times, what diff ratio are you running?

If you let tyres down to much the centre of the tyre moves upward. When this happens the only contact patch you have is the tyres outer edges. The correct pressure will give a full contact pattern on the road. Some people test this by doing a burn out and looking at the width of the patch.

I can usually tell whether it's right during the burnout. As you watch where the smoke starts from. If it starts in the centre? Too hard and so on.

Sensational time from another JMM modded car!! And the best Dev4 I have heard of.

I have got to see what we can do with useless dev4 in his wagon.

Yours is running suberbly but his feels a bit weak still!

By the way what's your race weight?

At WSID in scrutineering there is a weighbridge so you can see the kerb weight minus driver of your car before your run. I know my AUII Fairmont wagon with 1/4 tank of fuel in full road trim was 1650kg on the day I ran my best time so far of 15.609.

I am guessing by your times and rwkw power that the ED is lighter but don't know much about ED's.

Just checked carsales research car and it quotes the AU fairmont (1560kg) only 7kgs heavier than the ED fairmont (1553kg), AU fairmont wagon 50kg heavier (1610kg).
Not so much weight difference between the ED and AU, I actually thought the AU's were heavier than that.
I plan to take my ED down to a weigh bridge sometime soon.
