Default Gas price protection

I have posted this in general discussion in a hope to gain more responses.

Does anyone know when & by how much the govt plans to remove the protection on gas prices over the next couple of years?

Thanks

I think its 2c per litre of excise a year starting next year until it reaches 14c per litre.

You mean the excise they are going to add to the price of LPG.

Starting next year, they'll add 2.5c/L, and then add another 2.5c/L each year until the excise total is 12.5c/L. By my calculations that means the following:
2008 - 2.5c/L
2009 - 5c/L
2010 - 7.5c/L
2011 - 10c/L
2012 - 12.5c/L

The timetable has now changed, this is an extract from the changes made when Howard started offering $2000 forconversions

As a result of the Fuel Tax Act 2006, autogas will enter the fuel excise system from 1 July 2011. Excise will be introduced in five equal steps to a final rate of 12.5 cents per litre on 1 July 2015.

The price of LPG fluctuates that much in some areas that I doubt anyone will notice the difference that much anyway.

Petrol will easily rise that much in that time anyway ... probably moreso.
