Default Ebay - Can you trust the bidders?

I've put my old motorbike for sale on Ebay, and now with less than four days till close of auction, I've got a new bid from someone who's just joined Ebay today. Did he join Ebay so he could bid on my item? He upped the bid by nearly 10%, which I thought was a lot.
I've got a project bike on there, as well, and the top bidder also has a zero rating. Does that mean 'nothings' want my shit?

Nil feedback people can be trouble but you have to give ppl a chance. I have no dramas having nil feedback ppl bid on my gear.

I guess I started with nil feedback. Find it funny no-one has asked to come and look at either bike, though...

Wouldn't that show up in their ID history, though? Unless they changed email addy's.

I haven't been on EBay for a long time now, as someone hacked into our account and I closed it.

But when people changed accounts they used to have a 'sunglasses' symbol next to their name to show new account. Don't obviously know if that still applies.

Also I purchased over 700 items before closing the account, and like everyone else started with 'nil' feedback.

Just make sure that if the item is to be 'picked up' that you state this on EBay and try not to have people pay by cheque!

I had a new user that had signed up the same day take the 'Buy it Now' option, thought it was sus when he was from Albania and I was only sending to Australia. The next day he was no longer a registered user. :

I always put that all bids are contracts and non paying bidders will be reported to eBay. _2:

Did that, XRGran, cash or money order, local pick-up only. I'd like to think it's someone who's been browsing Ebay for awhile, and finally found something they're keen on.

??? How did you know that smeone hacked your account, and more importantly, how did they do it?

I thought as long as your password is kept secret, then you are ok.
I've been on E-Bay a few years now, and haven't had any real problems yet.

Touch wood!!

I thought of something like that, after I'd posted my ads, LuvinmyEB. About paying within X days of end of auction, reporting negative feedback etc... but that was hindsight.

If you think they are sus, when you arrange the pickup make it in the carpark of the local police station. If their the real deal they sholdn't have a problem meeting there

Another question, when I look at the bid history, the bids don't match the prices I've seen on the item page. Is this from automatic bidding?

You can still go back and edit the payment details I think.

Mine are, Bidder must contact me within 3 days of winning the auction and payment must be made within 7 days. All non paying bidders will be reported to eBay.

Someone may have put a higher bid on it, but it will only show the lower amount until someone matches or betters that bid.
