Default Bentley Blue Train Vs Subaru WRX Sti

Last night I had the great pleasure of riding shotgun in a Bentley Blue Train, and WOW! that is one amazing car.

Turns out someone I was drinking with last night knows someone... blah blah blah... owns a Bentley. The four of us drinking were offered a cruise around town in the car, and then a ride home afterwards. About midnight we jumped in and cruised around Brisbane city and the Valley (with many many stares) before heading to my place on the south side.(here comes the good part...)

To get to my place you jump on the freeway so we did just that. As we were cruising along we came up along side a fairly new Subaru WRX Sti and the clown inside decided he would drag off the Bentley (with a little encouragement from one drunk girl in the back of the Bentley giving him the forks)...

... NO FREAKIN WAY!

When the driver of a twin-turbo 6.75L V8 Bentley making 450bhp stomps on the gas, OH MY GOD! You realize you really truly can go fast in style and comfort... and make the ricer boys cry.

Loved it... every minute of it. I still can't stop smiling.

I drove one of the new bentleys over in the states when i was there, and i agree. They rock off the line ;) Not quite as good as the twin turb mercs we had the fortune to move, but close ;)

Just checked the specs on the Bentley and they are pretty fast for their weight (2600kg!!)

0-100 5.5sec
V-max 270Km/h
6.75L V8 Twin Turbo
331kw@4000rpm (only 128kw/tonne!!)
875Nm@3250rpm (torque is everything)

Suby's aren't that fast @ in gear accerelation but they get off the line really well thanks to 4wd.

Would love a ride in one of those Bentley's though...

As rock legend Jimmy Page put it, "A Rolls Royce is a statement, a Bentley is an understatement"

You can feel it too... it felt like someone had bolted jet engines to a stately home. Phenomenal feeling. I almost spilled my Moet!

If the STi driver had dumped the clutch (risking his gearbox in the process) he should have beat the Bentley considering it was full of passengers. Without a big launch though, the Subies aren't that fast from a standing start.

Don't get the STi box confused with the WRX box. They are very strong boxes.

Rolling in a Bentley would be a great leg opener :

Any pics?

Look up the ep of Top Gear with Clarkson drifting and doing circles in a Bentley. So wrong but so right!

That advert was brilliant. and the power. You could really p*ss people off if you had a Bentley.

I want one :

Named after the car that beat the famous European blue train back in the 30's

The performance figures of a Bentley Blue Train and an Sti are actually quite comparable as far as straight line performance goes. On paper the Sti will accelerate to 100kph in 5.45 sec and the Blue Train will do it in 5.5 sec. Is that really any different? Is this even really an issue? Who cares!? It was hilarious!

... also, did you actually read the bit where i said we were on the freeway? :togo:

I don't see why people think WRX's are quick !!!
They are a VERY good "point to point" car where handling and power to ground is its main aim... Every where you go some young, dumb and full of c--e always wants to race you...
