hey people, need some help. I recently had extractors installed onto my AU1 falcon. Now I have actually experienced a loss in power and worse fuel economy. The bloke who installed them told me he installed the cat in reverse because it wouldn't fit on with the extractors. The exhaust now makes a sort of raspy note coming from around where the cat is. Is this the problem and should I just go for an aftermarket unit? Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Maybe he rattled and banged the cat around during installation, which could have knocked some bits loose if it was already old. Loss of power and fuel economy points to the cat, I doubt it would be the new pipes lol!

It's not ment to be installed backwards. Take it to someone with half a brain and get it sorted.

I know, this is the local bloke that everyone uses, so I expect him to know what he's doing. I went and saw him yesterday and he reckons he'll fit a new hi-flow cat for $250. It's illegal not to have one, isn't it?

you must have a cat as mentioned above and removing it will not give you any gains over a high flow cat just losses to your wallet. as I understand it the fines for removing a cat are quite high. It's just not worth the risk. just a hint though if the cat was fine when you took the car in it sounds like the mechanic stuffed up he certinatly shouldn't have reversed it. i'd be hitting him up to at least partly cover the cost
