Default Stall converter sizes and results.

For the benefit of all I have decided to start this thread to see just what effect stall converters have on et and or 60 footer.

My stallie which I believed to be 3000 is actually a 2500 rpm unit,Errors in my tacho have misled me.

At 2500 my best ever 60 footer was 2.098 and average is 2.110.Essentially this is a reduction of .2 second off the quarter mile.My power loss from standard was 2 rwkws .

I do believe Casper with his 3500 stallie has done from memory a 1.8 60 footer. This equates to a 0.5 second off the 60 footer.I am not sure what he averages.

If anyone else has results from their stall converter please post.

So the extra 500 to 1000 rpm has seen and improvement of 0.1 in the 3500 unit vs 2500.

Doesnt work like that. You are assuming that the engines are producing the same power. This isnt the case. You have a heavily worked head and pretty chunky aftermarket cam in your generating a lot more power. I have a 100% factory stock engine. Therefore the 0.1 advantage is actually being done with considerably less power. On equal terms the advantage may be quite different (and maybe it wont).

hey stav, you have a 3000rpm stall.
Remember that day I met up with you in my work ute, and you told me to take your car for a run to see what I think of it?

Unless your tacho is out, its 3000rpm.

True true. without devaiting too much..my dev 4 cam in stock head pulled the 2.098 60 footer .So now with more power the 60 footer has gone backwards.Even though the car has more power.

Regardless.I am still interested in what people's experiences are to get a better compare.

I just think the comparison is flawed. Different diff gears, different stalls, different power levels, different vehicle weights, different tyres. Just too many variables to make any comparison worth while.

I cant even compare the 3500+ stall to the 3000 stall I had in my car earlier as I never raced the 3500+ with the standard diff gears. It rolled straight out on 4.11's at the track. The 3000 stall only ever raced with 3.45's.

I might order a bigger rpm stallie just to see the difference for myself and of course post it up.
