I think this may be a more logical solution.

A 1.2 mill holden in Production???

It'll be a white elephant like holdens other offerings to get hopes up.

- HRT 427. even with cashed up orders and a 200k plus pricetag they still pulled the pin.

-GTR XU2. A V8 version of the XU1. Empty promise even though they brought out the SLR5000, SS hatch and A9X it still wasnt the same.

Holden GTR-X. Looked like a smashed crab but at the time it was the closest looking thing to a E Type jag without looking a Datsun.

EXACTLY... as you say it was an exercise to showcase their creative engineering ability, and to attract attention to their stand at the Motorshow.. nothing more, nothing less...

And the best part is its a NEW CAR.

That's what I was thinking.

If you're after a street machine or mustang, sure try that site, but it has nothing to do with Effigy? Effigy is limited run if it goes ahead, mustangs are everywhere.

Default Efigy or Murcury Sled Kit

Is there some simple reason some enterprising company has not brought out a body kit to fit an Efigy style body on the Holden Ute or a Sled body on a Ford ute. Maybe chassic integrity not sure but surely thats just an engineering issue.

BINGO!!

As for EFIGY who named it that?? They should have given a fully sick retro pimp name like SWITCHBLADE or something : .
After all it is just a glorified Corvette.

Their living in the past man.

The whole retro thing just shows how designers have run out of idea's and the geriatric market is too cashed up.

Yawn at that old timer mobile

I must have been reading a different article to eveyone else last Friday.

Holden were NEVER considering building copies of the Efijy. The Herald Sun story I read said Holden "could" make copies (if they wanted to) and Walkinshaw "could" be one of the people to build them. It was all Herald Sun speculation.

It's a fantastic looking car. Happened to see a lil bit of it on a car show a while back. They started it...it sounded utterly breath-taking. The idea that Holden would even put such a car into production is really far fetched. Holden couldn't get (enough) interested in the HRT 427 for it to be a viable production line for them. And besides the offers they have (presumably in the $1 million range) were just that...offers. After the initial buyers...would there be any other takers? I doubt it.

The people who think that it's just a glorified Corvette though...or a POS...c'mon. I mean I'm a Ford fan here, but surely you can appreciate the thinking, planning, money and time spent on a creation purely for show, never intended for build. Imagine if Ford had of produced an AU or BA/BF coupe or I dunno, some sort of ZD Fairlane with suicide doors or something purely for show. I guess in the end...art is subjective. Good on Holden I say...but never into production
