?John Force and Kenny Bernstein made contact with each other and the wall during Funny Car eliminations at the Fall Nationals in Ennis, Texas.

Bernstein is out of his car, alert and appears to be fine.

Force is conscious, awake and alert, talking to the medical crew, but is going to be air-lifted out of the Motorplex for observation and evaluation."

this is all I can fiind atm

Funny Car driver John Force hospitalized after crash
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...101e27dae.html
Injuries to legs, hand not seen as life threatening

03:35 PM CDT on Sunday, September 23, 2007
By RICHARD DURRETT / The Dallas Morning News
rdurrett@dallasnews.com

ENNIS – Funny Car driver John Force was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas on Sunday afternoon after he crashed into Kenny Bernstein's car across the finish line in a second-round elimination pass at the O'Reilly Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex.

Dr. Dwight Shewchuk, a EMS official with the NHRA who attended to Force before he was flown out via helicopter to the hospital, said Force broke both his legs and injured his right hand. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening. He will be examined, and further details are expected to be released later Sunday.

"Those will require extensive work up and treatment," Dr. Shewchuk said. "Although he was alert and conscious throughout the whole thing, he's demonstrating some evidence of concussion at least in that he was asking the same question over and over. His vital signs are stable."

Bernstein said he was fine except for a "little bit of a headache" that occurred when he first stopped. Bernstein said his head was bouncing back and forth to each side of the rollcage. But after the death of Funny Car driver Eric Medlen in testing in March, Force implemented some changes in the Funny Cars to add padding to the rollcage area.

"If that had been the old pads, I’d have had a lot worse headache," Bernstein said.

Bernstein said his car was hugging the middle line but never went over it. As soon as he crossed the finish line, he saw Force's car heading toward him. Then all Bernstein could see was parts of his car and then Force's car as he drove through them.

“That took just milliseconds and after that I saw John’s car hit the wall really, really hard,” Bernstein said.

Bernstein said something happened to Force’s car to cause him to swerve from the left lane to the right lane and eventually hit the right wall. But Bernstein wouldn’t comment on whether he thought a rear tire had blown.

Tape-delay coverage of the race will be shown at 6 p.m. Sunday on ESPN2.

He's OK, spoke to one of his crew guys about an hour ago.

Force has a broken left ankle and severe abrasion on his right knee. His left wrist also was dislocated and broken and he sustained some severe abrasions and slight fractures on a number of fingers on his right hand also CAT scans performed came back negative and showed no damage other than the injuries to his legs and hands.

They will begin cleaning a number of his injuries tonight and possibly setting his fractures if the swelling is at an acceptable level.

If i find out more i will let you know.

Cheers Craig

I was just watching the footage, over and over.
It seems to me that when Kenny Bernstein's car hits the centre line, he takes out a timing box, and it shoots to the left, and hit John Force's tyres, one explodes, and he went into Kenny Bernstein's car.
Pretty unfortunate to happen like it did, a lot of variables had to match up and they did just that.

Yeah nothing to do with the foam blocks, very very rare for a clutch failure especially with the titanium clutch cans these days probably a chassis failure. We will find out pretty soon i would of thought, team Force have had a terrible year and would want to find the cause of this real quick to make any changes to there other cars before the next event in 2 weeks.
