Fellas would like your opinons on what car/ute you would get. I've been looking for a couple of months at series 111auxr8 utes and nothings really come up in QLD that i would buy. I'm tossing up between an AUXR8 ute or a BAXR6 sedan, my max price i will go is $20000. I like the AU's and if i get one i believe it will be a bit more of a performance car than the BAXR6. It will also have the good old V8 rumble. If i get the BA it will be the latest model and you get a bit more for your money. Also the AUXR8 ute would be faster than the BAXR6 wouldn't it. I'm confused now, i shouldn't have looked at the BA's on the net and seen how cheap they are now. It's weird that you can get the BAXR6 for the same price as the AUXR8 ute. I will be looking to buy in about 2 week's when i get home after seven months overseas (ADF) can't wait.
Cheers in advance for the reply's. |

Well, it all depends on what you prefer. Do you need the ute for work purposes? Do you tow a lot? Do you need a car to accommodate the family?
I wouldn't say the BA is the latest model simply because it isn't. What do the XR6 utes go for?, that could be a possibility if your heart is set on a ute, you can combine them. Goodluck on your purchase. |

I can get a BAXR6 ute for $20000 just have to look around a bit. I only want a ute for the practacality camping, motorbike on back, and i love the look of the utes, always have. But then i look at what else i can get and it confuses me even more damb it. Yeh no family just me.

I'd go the AUXR8 Ute, BA XR6 utes (and sedans) are heaps common these days. With the AU XR8 you get the good XR front and dont have to put up with the round AU bum.

AU xr8 is the choice! More power, more unique/uncommon and the au's are great all rounders, they put up with anything and keep going strong. Don't forget the rumble of the v8. ;)

I'd suggest the AUII XR8 ute,5 speed manual. The last of them where 200kw.Very nice motor and a great allround ute. They also have a LSD standard.Heaps of aftermarket performance mods available for the old windser bent 8.Plus same as the BA in body and suspension except for the front and the dashboard.
V8 power and noise FTW! |

If it's just you and you don't need to carry rear seat passengers go the AU XR8 ute. Would be more fun to drive than a BA XR6.

The xr8 will be a more reliable car - BA series ones suck balls. lol.
The XR6 will use less fuel, thats about the only advantage I see. |

Both very different vehicles, plenty of good advice given, the XR8 has balls, the XR6 is easy to live with.

Can easily bargain something like that to 20k. That's what I'd be going after.

Dependant on your needs but if you enjoy driving a performance vehicle the XR8 is your choice, overall a very good package. |

well after looking today it is between and XR6 turbo or the AUXR8 i am thinking the xr8 as it is more of a unique vehicle so to speak. In saying that the turbo would still be a nice option. Thanks for the opinions keep them coming.

I changed my mind...Go the best of both worlds..
Step One - Add one BA Step Two - Cut away rear body Step Three - Throw in a 6cyl Turbo Walla! - You have one Turbo Ute for under 20k!! Problem Solved... Last edited by TurboUteris; 24-09-2007 at 05:35 PM. |

Well it looks like i'm going to stick with the AU. I like it much better and for 20 i might be able to bargain and get a pursuit. Cheers for your input fellas.

XR8 is slow. Wouldnt bother, the XR6 is quicker in a straight line in manual form and is nicer to drive. Also cheaper on the petrol, better interior (imo) and handles pretty nicely. No it doesnt have the rumble of a V8, but sleepers are nice too.

Remember your EF XR8 from the factory was putting out 165KW, no surprises that a B series 6 will be slighly quicker. The poster was talking about the 200kw AU, a different kettle of fish. I drive a BF 6 on a daily basis, also I own a AU XR8 220kw in manual form, there is no way in this world that the BF6 is quicker, it is substantially slower, ludicrous to compare the two of them. I like the XR6's, last one I owned was an EL XR6, a brilliant car but not quicker than say a 200kw windsor which also has considerable more torque. Cheers mate. |

Yep I have a 220 as well and been in a few BAs and no way in the world is the BA 6 close infact going of wheels figures ( yes there dodgy and I don't make it a habit of comparing them but ) the 185 kw manual xr8 pulled a 14.9 quarter so make of it what you will.
Personaly I would go the xr8 it will probably hold value alittle better than the BA beacuse there is so many of them around. But I don't know
