It's good for me as I have four figure server bills every month from the USA. Simply can't host a busy site in this country without getting hammered for the bandwidth that goes out when you are getting lots of traffic.

I think manufacturing is dead in this country no matter what happens to the $$ :(
Its why i got out of it and into mining, its soon to be the only growth industry in the country, sadly enough |

Text book like Howard/Fraser == 22%. But lets not get into a left Vs right "discusssion" rite now. I am genuinely interested in seeing what people might consider importing. I'm thinking about a 4.6 litre quad cam for my impending cobra kit.

I think what we are mainly seeing is a falling US Dollar. Looks likely that the US$ will not remain the currency that most international deals are done in, nor will the Saudis and hence the rest of the middle east continue to peg their currency to that of the US. |

Whats with the inflation concerns? One of the key benefits of a floating dollar is the buffer effect that it provides in economic climates like that of which we are currently faced.
Higher AUD = less money coming into the country... particularly when its pretty much a bannana republic with resources at the moment. This is a key component of GDP and the higher dollar is having the effect of reducing inflationary pressure. Its effectively rationalising the influx. As demand eases, so will the AUD... forex will equate to higher net domestic values and protect us from drastic economic shock if/when the rug is pulled out from under the currency. Keating was onto a good thing (and he'll still chew your ear off about it given the chance lol). Of course this is all said ceterus paribus

ohhh yeah right , and the australian leaders look after their owqn people right.
petrol and interest rates will go up, so the money goes into our rich peoples rip you off pockets . these days good times only go to the rich pockets . unless you go to the US . IT wont benifit you. it will more likely bite you in the harder later. |
