Default Race harness mounting? quick question

hey all im runnnig around like mad becasue i wanna race tonight, went to mount the harrness belt and found there is not enough length to bolt it into the rear seatbelt mountng point (the one between the rear seat and rear backrest.

i have seen people run them (the shoulder straps) through the front seat holes and straight down to the drivers seat, belt clasp mounting point, if i do this i will also have to mount the lap harness bits in the same location on each side.

not sure if im making sense, will this be legal if i do?
