Yes Myts, I was harsh on you. It's good that you accept responsibility for your actions. Whether I have never exceeded the speed limit is not the point - i don't make excuses if i do - that is the difference. And for the record, in 14 years of driving, I have never got a speeding fine or red light camera fine. But hey, that must mean I'm less of an enthusiast 'cos I don't go above the speed limit. So yeah, that's where the high and mighty stuff comes from I guess.

I have already read about the anti infra red flash spray and a clear perspex type of cover that is clear and hard to see that make's infra red light useless. Think sun screen lotion.

When the government decides to use proper law enforcement to control speeds in this country, and not machines, then people will stop beating them at their own game!!

Revenue should be taken out of the equation, then maybe the law might gain some respect.

Here in Victoria they can't, if it wasn't for the fine revenue the state budget would be in the red, a sad and sorry state of affairs.

I should get a can for a good friend of mine.

He just got a speed camera fine for doing 65 in 60 zone (beach rd 3 lanes each way, divided road in the daylight) on a vespa.

Someone, anyone tell me we aren't going to far.

Has anyone purchased ghost plates - number plate covers which render your licence plate unreadable at certain angles - and received a fine?

I have a can of the spray that is sprayed to reflect speed camera flash's. By my own test's, during the day it is about 50% effective. At night it is about 90% effective.

All my cars are wearing it. I never go out and deliberately break the speed limit. But I always spend most of my concentration on what is happening around me. Even if I do go over the speed limit, I am a safer driver than someone that rarely takes their eyes off their speedo.

I have some, they are way to easy to spot. Even the slowest of plods will se them. Save your money.

Yes, they work and work well, however, when officer Plod pulls you over to have a chat about them, the conversation will not end well for you.

I have had some really good results with the new laptop filters. I have located the company in the US and am looking at getting some made to match Australian number plate sizes.

The results are amazing..... Almost impossible to see and virtually impossible to take pictures of your number plate, day or night. My only issue at the moment is how well they weather. Time will tell. I will let anyone know via PM after I have tested them....

Flip up plates work a treat - much less engineering involved than James Bond style.

Then again you get the people who just cover it in mud, bike racks ect. and go "oh sorry officer I didn't realise, I'll fix that up ASAP"

don't speed huh??? yeah right! easier said than done, and i'm no lead foot but when you're stuck on a single lane road with a guy towing a 30ft caravan with a shitbox pathfinder and a convoy of 20 or 30 cars and the only overtaking lane for ages is about 1klm long and everyone wants to get past cos there's no way he'll pull over...........

heres a way to avoid detection - take your number plate of. If flashed by a camera no penalty, BUT, if you get pulled over by a cop expect a $50 fine plus no demerits. Its a gamble but might pay of for some.

And now the easiest way - DONT SPEED!! Simple.

Myts, it's actually the politcal correct society where no one blames themselves. Taking responsibility and obeying the road rules isn't politically correct at all. Political correctness is where do-gooders always want to blame everyone else, just like when victims of crime are shafted when criminals get little or no penalty for their actions. Complaining about speeding fines is actually political correctness. Ie, no respect for authority etc etc. That's a politically correct society. Obeying the rules is actually old school society....

And this is not directed at you but is it really a big deal if you're stuck behind a truck to wait 1km when an overtaking lane is available? Hmm 100kmph speed limit. About a 40 second wait. Now I think speeding fine vs 40 secs. I know what I'll choose.

Touching wood, I have not had a fine in over 20 years. 135+ in a 60 would see me in Gaol today.
I plan to keep it that way, and yes I do still travel above the posted limit in certain areas. Mind you, I get a buzz out of doing near 180 on twisty dirt roads in a 4wd turbo rally car.

There is an idea to set up a system where by infra red LED's are placed around your licence plate and give off enough glare so as to send a white light back to the recording device rendering your plate almost invisible.
As we do not see infrared, when you walk up behind it, nothing.
View it through a lens, and especially now with digital media, it does produce some good results.
You can get LED sets from Jaycar etc and LEDs use near enough nothing in terms of current to have them on at all times.
This method is not setup to work, but uses their new infrared technology against them.

I don't know what the fine is but any cop following you and randomly checking regos would detect it (either no such rego # or different car registered) and would pull you over, they may consider it as "obstructing registration plate"

Best way is to colour copy your plates.
Laminate them so they do not get wet and put them in a good set of Altrex frames. The plates will look very real, but will not reflect and be difficult to pick up on speed cameras.
