Hi Guys Im wondering if someone on here has similar problems with fuel gauge. My wifes AU3 6cyl wagons fuel gauge is working intermitley even when i fill the tank to full ill will register for a few moments that its full then the needle goes back to empty. Can anybody experinced the similar situation and if so what was your remedy for it. Thanks in advance . Tony

Mine does same thing I have an au11 wagon It only does this if I go past second (Click off) when filling tank... ((STOP AT FIRST CLICK OFF)) DONT TRY GETTING MORE IN |

on debs ..
from down near the red.. fill her up.. it says its only 1/2 full and the DTE etc(fairlane) says only about 1/2 then once switched off and on again its all good again... its wierd

Your problem is probably a faulty fuel tank sender unit.

Mine does the same thing as well. Although I only fill mine till to the first click. I want to take the tank out to have a look, but having an empty tank and a weekend come together is rare. It is annoying but goes after you drive a little.

Yep mine does the same,I rang ford and they did a TSB???? (or what ever they call it) release that states they acknowledge theres a problem with wagon fuel gauges/sender unit and would replace it for you (You pay of course) if it is removed for something else,this is not a recall.
They have since changed the design/material on the sender unit so they say. There is one on ebay now $99.....

thanks heaps vctxr6ute, i will have a look on ebay. Does the sender unit is actually inside the tank or is it attached from the outside as im not sure?

its in the tank....on a wagon you can remove it from the lh side without removing the tank..just behind the rear wheel....

My wifes wagon is a SR to wagonclint. But i have played around with it ( carnt help myself lol) IIve had it lowered ,17inch series 1 tickford rims ,momo s/ wheel,tinted windows, BF BMC filter xr mats and now new redback exhaust.

yeah the SR's are good hey im very happy with mine all ive done to mine is put 18in wheels on it....lookn at gettn an exhaust and i wanna lower the back a little bit so its sits even.....
