I've been making enquiries at the Codemasters website and it seems that the cars simply just have a little less horsepower in Pro sim mode and that's why it runs down Conrod slower. There's nothing that can be done about it.

As far as I can see, there's no hack / editor available to change the horsepower in the car's data files either.

Coming back to this one (again lol) as ive recently discovered the joy of online racing with rFactor.

www.ausfactor.com

Racing on monday and sunday nights from 8pm EST. CART, V8SC series are on the go at the moment and NASCAR series starting soon.

Did well in the CARTs @ Sebring last night with a 3rd in race 1 and DNF in race 2 (tyre blowout GRR!) but tintops will be a different story. 60 lap enduro at bathurst next weekend (est 5 pit stops?) and im in big trouble lol, doing 2:20s in rFactor because the physics are so damned difficult! Quick guys are doing 2:0x with qual setups.

1hr/night im looking at 150 laps practice this week!??!

Also treated myself to one of these:

And its some of the best money ive ever wast... i mean... spent.

We should get some screenshots happening, will get some pics of my FPV coming throught the cutting, almost looks real. And anyone with the gear required to race online should not hesitate for another moment, it introduces the one dynamic racing games lack... the human factor!

Looks pretty good. What are the physics like compared to my problems with V8SC3?

Madre de dios the legends are true! Leather-y and alloy-y with a H pattern shifter!

That looks like the best PC steering wheel set EVER. How much did it set you back?

I paid $300 for the Logitech MOMO steering wheel with sequential shifter (love it to bits). Never seen your one in person but I remember it being a little rich for my liking. But it has a freaking clutch and H pattern shifter!

Depends if you like it real or not. I've not played V8SC3 but im familiar with codemasters style.

For rFactor, breathe on the throttle too early, round you go... prey you can pull it up before the wall but even then your tyres will be shot. Heck, get a bad entry line, come off the brake too soon/early and forget about it. A lot of this has to do with setup, which is very complex (couple of pages worth of stuff to tune in the garage) and i also drive with all assists off. TC, Stability, ABS etc can all be adjusted to suit your confidence.

Down to the level where you have to adjust the brake bias as the fuel load lightens up to make sure you're not locking tyres. The phyisics are very impressive (the "15 degrees of freedom" model), especially with force feedback steering wheel. You feel the understeer, the oversteer, bumps, air under the wheels @ the dipper... very cool.

For the league im in, quick guys are doing 2:06 w/ qual setups and 2:08 at race pace... i beleive these are close to the records held by sMurphy too? Pretty realistic IMO. My best is 2:14 and im doing 280ish down conrod; i imagine the quick guys are going much faster.

Lol, you've no idea how ****y it feels having a hand stitched leather boot on your PC's gear selector. Been racing open wheelers last cpl days so been hammering the flappy paddles.

The G25 pictured above is around $400, up to $500 at places like hardly normals, ive seen em on ebay for $370. But the next level above this is thousand dollar pedal sets and wheels, custom made from real car parts.

The BEST part of the G25, no exception, is the brake pedal. It's so much heavier than the accel/clutch... it just... it works lol. The 6 speed is great too, but only a handful of games (simulators) support gated shifters. Force feeback works well, i had the effects maxed out and the shaking of Bright's FPR @ idle made my desk collapse :( FU ikea!

Argh paid $250 for the MOMO last Chrissy looks like this Chrissy Ill be upgrading to the G25er. Whats the clutch feel like?

Might have a look at joining Ausfactor, the simulator AI is pretty good at times, but never as random as human opposition. I'm more of a GTR2 kinda guy, but what the hey!

The clutch/accel dont really have "feel" to them. I was a bit disappointed at first. But then... i jumped in my real car and noticed its not really the clutch pedal that has feel to it (apart from the spring), its the engine and the chassis that let you know what is "happening" clutchwise. Obviously a game can only communicate this through sights and sounds which makes it tricky.

Truth be told, once im in 2nd i forget about the clutch. Left foot braking and stab the throttle on downshifts is the go... heel and toe only really needed if grip is really down (i.e. taking something like MkI escort up pikes peak). Also good when going 6th-4th-2nd coming into the chase

Yeah cool thing about online racing is the variance in the field. AI @ 100% and they follow each other in a line for the most part... with online there may be 5sec/lap difference between P1 and P15.

If you're not sold on rFactor yet, check out the tracks (28 pages) and cars (13 pages) currently available for download

Yeah the controls you attatch to the PC only tell you 'as much as you're willing to hear'

If you know what's supposed to be going on the simulator is as real as you want it to be/let it be.

I've clocked up a few laps at Bathurst on rFactor, and theres a heap of stuff online for dload, but I've always felt that rFactor was a little TOO clinical, Gtr2 gives you more action/glossiness. But Ill definitely join the ausfactor v8 league.

Not sure.

When it was first released it was supposedly a limited release... sorta exclusive. Apparently only a few thousand made it into australia. I guess when they say "limited" they mean "limited" to how many they can sell

R Factor looks to be the best simulator at the moment.

Anyways back to V8SC III

Latest lap times

Mosler MT900 World GT NGT - Bathurst 1:40.89
Triple 8 Steve Ellery at Surfers Paradise - 1:24.98

All my lap times are in time trial where you can't cut corners and will have your time exempt if you go off the track
Manual gears, damage on, boost off, sand traps off

Races at 110% difficulty
Customised setups
