Default Excuses for not working before Melbourne Cup

To all those poor souls that have to go to work the Monday before Melbourne Cup, here are some really valid excuses for calling in sick

My car wouldn't stop.
I'm deadlocked inside the house and my partner is away for 3 days.
I was at the meeting. I just thought it was in Isanbul.
I was captured by the borg and assured that resistance was futile!
I'm waiting for the test results but they're really sure I've got non specific morbid dread of work.
I thought it was daylight savings.
I thought it was the end of daylight savings.
What's daylight savings?
I have woman's trouble. When thats over I expect to have a bout of Person trouble.
I have been diagoned wth terminal concupiscene (means wanting something badly)
I ate my alarm clock.
My mother would't let me...she's been dead for 17years..but I am sure she wouldn't let me.
My fish died...Of course I am sure. I shot him!

And my personal fav...

The devil made me do it. He was wearing fishnets and everything!
