: The new Mondeo is bigger than a BF Falcon in nearly every measure except its betwwen 72mm(sedan) & 138mm(hatch) shorter overall,
What's going on? Has the world gone mad? When are they all going to realize that every new model doesn't need to dwarf the model it replaces! What does this mean for the Orion Falcon? Is it growing too...

Yeah I know what you mean it's an absolute scam how big the new Camry is and still uses a tired old fourbanger. The ones at work have horrendous fuel economy yet people snap them up after we are done with them because they are "an economical four cylinder".
Apparently the new model Corolla is bigger than the early 90's Camry. The thing is though if the Falcons are getting bigger than why does my old XE feel the roomiest inside??? |

I know what you mean, new cars are so bulky and bulbus looking. The EF was nice and low and sleek, I'm 6'2" and well over 100kgs and I never had any interior space issues in my old EF. But then again I am swimming in head room in the BA.

My EF was once considered a large car and still is big enough, but it literally looks small when sitting next to a new Corolla, why does each new model have to be bigger than the last? New cars are starting to look seriously retarded because of the pure size of the things. Yeah, new GT will probably literally weigh 2 tonnes, perfect for a performance car.

The reason that cars are getting bigger is pretty simple really.... the people that drive and use them are getting bigger. Both up and out!

DJL351 = 6'7" 100+ While I will agree about the head room being okay, the leg room is not!

Let the specifications speak for themselves:
All models are current unless stated otherwise. FORD Falcon - 4916mm Falcon (xd 1980) - 4730mm 27 Years - 186mm Fairlane - 5153mm Fairlane (zj 1980) - 5020mm 27 years - 133mm Mondeo - 4844mm Mondeo (1995) - 4481mm 12 years - 363mm HOLDEN Commodore - 4894mm Commodore (1984 VK) - 4714mm 23 years - 180mm Statesman - 5160mm Deville (1980 WB) - 5150mm 27 years - 10mm Astra - 4249mm Astra convertible - 4476mm Astra (1984) - 3960mm 23 years - 289/516mm TOYOTA Aurion - 4825mm Camery (1983) - 4435mm 24 years - 390mm Corrola - 4220mm Corrola (1980) - 4000mm 27 years - 220mm MITSUBISHI 380 - 4855mm Magana (1985) - 4600mm 22 years - 255mm So your only really talking on average about a 20-40cm increase of about 25 years.... really not that much bigger... plus when you consider the amount of extra crap in the car and under the bonnet.

Most of the small and medium cars now have markedly higher rooflines and bootlines i.e. the cargo area is much taller. Most of the car parks now don't accommodate lengthwise a car like a Falcon, let alone a LWB sedan. The car parks are getting tighter, but the cars get bigger.
