I took the Fiesta to Peter Warren Smithfield to get it serviced this morning n guess wat I saw...
A sea-grey Fiesta with a bodykit and silver overhead stripes. Headlight covers and side indicators were a bit tinted too. 17" MP3 wheels with 205/40R17 Nankang UltraSport NSII tyres. I quite like it actually, except the dual exhaust recesses on the rear bumper. 1st pic isnt that good quality, sorry. |

Ugh...
BMC CDA CAI = $400 2" catback exhaust = $300 Koni shocks+springs package = $1100 (set of 4) Magnecor KV85 competition-grade leads = $150 (set of 4) Denso Iridium spark plugs = $130 (set of 4) Total = $2080 Add those to your Fiesta and it'll be MUCH quicker than the "LX4". Really think about it before getting that bodykit. What happens to the $320 that's left you asked?... take your missus to a posh restaurant.. all will be sweet. Hey Ives,
Wat does BMC CDA CAI stand for? I'm pretty sure that the CAI is cold air intake, but the rest i have know idea. How much punch you reckon u've gotten outta these things? |

CDA stands for Carbon Dynamic Airbox. It's a pod filter enclosed in carbon-fibre to reduce "heat stroke" (is that the correct term?).
Good quality CAI would give you roughly 5kW extra at the wheels. I dyno'ed my Fiesta at the same hour as MISTA FIESTA did his.... his had 5.1kW more than mine because he had K&N Apollo CAI on his while I had the stock airbox with BMC panel filter on. EDIT :- BMC is the name of the brand. |

So is there a noticeable difference in the way it drives? If you dont mind me asking, how many Kw's do you have at the wheels and at the engine at the moment? I'm just askin because you seem to know what your talking about.

Last time on the dyno I pulled 56.3kW atw (1.6l automatic). Some people here pulled 61-62kW atw with their manual 1.6l Fiestas. MISTA FIESTA's 1.6l automatic pulled 61.4kW atw.

A very noticable difference is the induction noise... sounds really good 4000rpm up. Quote:

The CDA is not simply a boxed POD. If you have a look inside it is shaped for minimal pressure lose. With my CDA on the car is great, I havn't checked the actual performance gain but it feels abit quicker and fuel economy is better

By adding a Cat back exhaust and a CAI you will allow the car to breathe better and get slightly better performance. a few KW extra i dare say.
in all honesty they where the two best mods i had done to my car. Unfortunately i rolled my car before i got a chance to dyno it. but i was guessing judghing by the result Mista_fiesta got and Ives, i would of at least hit 65-66FWKW The car was a hoot. kept up with alot of other cars. and Pies still does.

Yea they are pretty quick for a small car even when they are stock. I'm just looking for some ideas. What you guys have said sounds pretty awesome. I had planned on re-routing my exhaust when it comes out of warranty, because at the moment it does a right angle straight out the motor, which has gotta be restricting it!!!!

Oh ok then, fair enough. Thanx for the advice I'm gonna start with the spark plugs and leads at the moment, only because of the warranty.

Hey Dom, the 56.3kW (mine) and 61.4kW (MISTA FIESTA's) were done on the same day.

Hey Ives, would you have a copy of the dyno results so you can post them on here? because ive got basically the same car as you have, minus all the performance mods (im planning to get soon hahaha)
I'm also interested because i notice there is a surprising lack of torque below 3000rpm........i only just noticed because i got new work and on my way to work its a pretty good stretch of road (like interesting =) ), and only now i noticed the lack of torque......or maybe its just the auto....... |

If you notice a lack of torque below 3k its the 1.6L at work . Pretty much after 4k the you only gain about 5kw in 2000rpm
