Question AU XR Style Altezza Performance Headlamps

saw some of these on ebay the other day looked allright, what you guys reckon, i have a galaxy blue falcon sedan and was wondering whether the "black magic" or the clear style would look better if i bought them.

"black magic":

Neither, they give poor light, and just don't look right either.

I'd go for the black ones, and if they really do give poor light, then spend $150 or so on a bi-xenon H4 HID kit and you will have great light, with a set of reasonable looking lights too.

Iv got a feeling a couple of guys have them on their cars around these parts. I remember seeing a black series one with the front and rear Altezzas.

My first impressions is I dont like them that much, look a bit cheap, but they could grow on me. Ha, back in 1999 I hated the AU now I reckon they're sh/t hot, they were just a bit ahead of their time thats all.

Got me thinking now JC. I have a dark colour and I've been tossing up weather or not to change.

They're cheap enough these days, and are apparently ADR compliant, and easier than pulling the headlights apart to paint the bezels black or body colour, AND....the real kicker....it's only 3 weeks to Christmas!!!

I'll consider a set of chrome ones as I have a silver car. One of my headlights has taken a hit, thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it. :p

Yeah , Would like to see them .. its just the way that you can see there still an Original Headlight , and not a 'OnePeice' with the Bumper ..

Just My Opinion ... id Go with the Black Altezza things ... they would look good on your Car ...

I think they look really good, only in black on a dark car though. They take away that massive headlight 'sad' look that plagues the au's. Here is a pic of them on my car:

(No longer have the old man pack or the L on my car ;))

either way they both look rubish in comparison to the one offs on a T-series on this forum
The main thing that puts me off the ebay ones, is the covers don't seem to be lined up with the lights. but this is always going to be the case when there is just a cover used against the lense.

Used to have them ... they were shocking ... I tossed mine ... I should have put them in a drum and burnt them though.

Adjustment was terrible ... tried to fix it by putting BiXenons in them a couple of years ago ... the light was better ... but the glare was awful ... used to blind people ... and then found that the lights were that inferior that the internal reflectors were burning through ... and the outer perspex used was starting the craze where the beam hit it.

I change to a set of modified AU headlight with H1 projectors installed ... and black surrounds with the internal top section eyelid plastic welded in ... care of The Dok.

Now about 18 months later ... they are perfect still .... not a mark internally ... and beam pattern is awesome.

:( This thread has caused me to dislike my lights. But my standard ones are worse.

What options do I have? I must admit I always thought the au headlights were the worst in its exterior looks.

XR front. As I said earlier though, there is a T3 on here with the best looking non XR headlights I've seen, by far. It is a shame they are a one off.
