Hi people,
Newbie here with an AUII XR6 VCT. All of the VCT profiles on aufalcon.com appear to have the 4480s fitted. I have a set of 4499s sitting here gathering dust. Car is stock and performs duties as my daily highway cruiser. Any reason not to fit the 4499s? Thanks, Rob |

4499's will be fine, I actually prefered them on a 6 compared to the 4480's (the comps) as do a fair few workshops. The 4480's IIRC give more up top of the rev range but lose a little down low whereas the 4499's are the opposite.

Thanks for the quick responses. I'm over on the west side in Mandurah, about 70kms south of Perth. I've toyed up the idea of doing the whole exhaust, however having come from another AU with your typical 2.5inch exhaust it ended up annoying the hell out of me on the longer drives. Reading through the work shop builds is reigniting the mod bug though.

Do you have a pic of your engine bay stockoau? They should have either 4480 or 4499 stamped on them.

Mine are stamped between the third and fourth primary (?) pipe. From that angle they don't look like 4480s or 4499s. Are they pacemakers?

on the header plate in the middle does it have numbers? the plate is the bit thats bolted up against the head. Should also have a stamp on the 2nd or 3rd cyclinder pipe!

The header plate is 2 sections, not joined between 3 and 4. I'll have a look later and see if I can find something marked on them

they look very simalar to my old lukey headers ,but with shorter primaries coming off the head.the ones in your pic look like there mandrel bent instead of the lukey press bend though.
they even look as if they are made to bolt onto the existing exhaust at the cat, same as my original lukey's.the newer style pacey's have the o2 sensor further back . i reckon they must be an earlier style pacey 4499.

they are mendral bent, but I didn't think they were a pacemaker item as both the 4490's and 4480's are tri y's but these are a y tri

hi, i recently got 4499's fitted along with a 2.5 redback and hi-flow cat. the difference is awesome. 200% different car. the 4499's give more low-mid rpm torque and the 2.5 gives more mid-top end power, so its a win/win, with 4480's you would have to be @ 4000rpm + to see any gains.

i always though the step should be the other way.as in your headers should be slightly larger than the ports on your head..

Got the 4499s on my VCT and it breathes beautifully from 2500rpm to redline. My last car was an EL XR6 with 4480s and not sure whether its due to the VCT or not, but I like the 4499s better. As has been said the 4480s are supposed to be better in the higher rev range but going by seat of the pants 4499s do the job nicely just as well.

Just a quick query from my older thread. Is it worth the effort installing the Pacemakers and keeping the standard XR6 VCT exhaust? I like it's quiet cruising. Does anyone have the specs for the standard system? Twin 2.25? I assume it's a factory system on it but it looks to be in pretty good nick considering it's 120ks old.
