Default xr6t8u runs 138 Mph And 11.9s First Time Out

Brian took his car out to WSID for the first time tonight and had some fun. The goal was to test the car and give Brian some time to play with the 600+ rwkw and the Tein suspension setup.

His first run was pretty exciting... wheel spin off the mark, wheel spin in 2nd and 3rd and then the thing took off like a rocket. I'd love to see the video. The ET was pretty ordinary (12.5s) but the car managed 138MPH (91 MPH 1/2 track!!). The car weighed in at 1850 KGs on the scruteneering scales with Brian in it.

By the common hp calculators the car has 836 HP at the wheels which converts to about 630 rwkw. 640 rwkw was measured on the hub dyno last night. I think that makes the Dynopack readings pretty accurate?

His second run was not as good as the first, violent wheelspin had him struggling to move forward ...

The third run was the money winner, short shifted into 2nd, stretched 3rd and once into fourth it rocketed off ... 11.9s@135 MPH 2.2 60' time.

Fastest Manual Sedan XR6T/F6 in the country.

Well done Brian and Tunehouse.

Toyo RA1; might try M/T's next.
The car has heaps of grunt; I just have to learn and practice getting a good ET.

Brian, my MTs are in the garage when you need them. They should make a difference.

hey brian

i was at wsid last night (im the guy that was talking to you in the pits at the end of the night)

like i said last night, awsome car, bloody good effort for a first time run. if i can do as good as you did when i debut my xr8 (but with a little bit less power than you ) i'll be very happy.

i got a video of your 2nd last run but i couldn't zoom in on the et board.(sorry about the crappy music playing in the background though )

enjoy

cheers mate

The video does do the car justice. It sounded and looked better from the rear.

It stayed nice and straight too !!

In these manual BA's you will have no hope of running a good ET unless you run slicks, MT streets etc just dont cut it with these heavy cars and being a manual.

But very impressive mph, at about half track it just mowed that rex big time, some serious potential there, you will proberly find with good traction your mph will go up some more also.
Well done first time out.

Not to mention full slick's are much easier on the driveline as they have plenty of give in the sidewall, something these pig heavy Ba's could use.

Thanks for the comments and the video.
I feel so embarassed, I didn't know how to stage properly. It's been a few years since I went to the drags.
I had no idea what the car was going to do, and was fairly apprehensive. I've just got the car back from the rebuild and driven it only in peak hour traffic.
The guy next to me in that rex said he had 280awkw on the Autotech dyno, so the F6 is no slouch.
Slicks will probably come in time.
Brian

Thanks. Once into 4th the top end is easy. I have a good Tein suspension, so it's pretty stable, and 6 pot Alcons stop it easily.
I'm going to try my auto F6 next. I may have to get some pointers from. Well done on your 10.

Well done you have to work very hard in a manual for a decent time.
You have adjustable suspension you don’t want it to stable or to hard, set it as soft as you can, you want the back to squat and the front to come on launch this will help your take off, more squat less chance of unloading the tyres on the line.

Most guys who look for a serious number run 90/10's to aid this.

Brian why not grab a C6 some slicks and push that 9.9 record out of the way, its stood for a fair while now, if there is a car that has the grunt to run a 9sec pass it will be yours...

ps: the video man could have edited the back wheel stage, we do see it often at the street meets.

Thanks for the advice.
We'll play with different suspension settings; they are made so that they can be set fairly soft.
Primary concern is safety, and I take note that slicks would be much safer.
I'm actually more inclined to detune the car, learn how to drive it, as the manual is a challenge; then move to slicks.
In a way I just wanted to now prove a point that the car has a lot of grunt, in spite of the fact that the driver is a novice; a for whatever reason I hit the brakes during the run (as shown on the video).
C6, roll cage etc means turning it into a full-on drag car.... that was never the intention of that project.
Thanks,
Brian

Nice work mate. Also I noticed you hit the brakes near the end..it would have been an even quicker time if the car stayed straight without the skids...
