Talking I'm getting an E-Series!!

Well as the title says I am getting an E-Series, an ED Fairmont Sedan to be exact. : I have been looking for an EB-EL Fairmont for a little while now and finally found one, it is in mint condition for it's age and is also a great price.

It is completely standard and looks to have been owned by an old guy since new, it has an alloy spare that looks like it has never been used and the rest of the alloys are in great condition, the interior is in excellent condition and it runs and drives great.
The paint(Cardinal Red) is also immaculate and only has a few scratches here and there.

Now the bad points :

The bad points are very few, they include the cruise control not working(Common), clutch fan noisy and wobbles(Apparently Common), Number plate light not working(Fuse and globe are good) and it needs new rear tires.

Other than those problems it is a great car especially for the price.

Thanks for reading,
Rick

P.S I am getting it on Monday so no pictures until then.

Oh and I forgot to say that I am only 15(16 in April) and don't have a job so repairs/modifications may not happen too soon. :

But the modifications I have planned are as follows(In alphabetical order)

Alarm(1)
Clear indicators and side repeaters(1)
Colour code grey side and bumper trim(1)
EA MPFI Airbox to TB Piping(1)
Exhaust(2)
K&N Panel Filter(1)
Lowering(2)
Replace Trans. Cooler with a bigger one(1)
Thermo Fans(1)
Tinted Windows(2)
Upgrade Sound System(2)
Wheels(Maybe CSA Gladiators)(2)
XH Snorkel(1)

Things marked with a 1 will happen sooner than the rest, due to price and/or if it needs to be fitted/replaced. Things marked with a 2 will happen sometime in the next year or so.

Thanks for the replies,
Rick

Sounds like a nice buy.The standard trans cooler should be fine be everyday driving/thrashing bout. Also since your getting your L's in april it proably wont get drivin a whole lot so it wont do much either. Thermo fans are a must have thing to replace the old noisy clutch fan. Also takes a little bit of stress of the engine to. Good old angle grinder will provide all your lowering needs haha.

Thanks for the replies, as for a cam that will be way down the track atm, may even be part of an AU engine swap :

Also the main reason I want to change the trans. cooler is because most of the fins on it are bent and I would like to feel safer knowing that I am overprotecting the trans. from damage, plus the coolers aren't that expensive.

Cool

Well I've finally got it : but I've been busy all day cleaning it and only got to take dirty pics. :
The paint wasn't as great as I thought it was but it is still very nice, it is actually Bordeaux Red not Cardinal Red as previously stated. The rims are nice except for the front ones which are both gutter rashed : , also the interior is pretty mint(Don't have any pics as of yet),
It also runs well except when sitting there in in gear with the brakes applied it hunts. For example, it sits at about 500-600rpm then every 5-10 seconds it jumps to 900-1000rpm, then drops back to 500-600rpm. :
Also is it normal for the volts gauge to sit on the notch before the halfway mark when it is in gear with the headlights on and the brakes applied or is my alternator stuffed?? Also the highest it will go is the notch after the halfway mark with the car at full throttle.

Also it isn't lowered in the front it's just sagged(A lot)

Anyway here are some pics.

Also does anybody know how to get the drivers footwell light working as mine isn't working but I have tried 4 different globes in it so far.

Thanks for looking,
Rick

P.S. I will post interior and clean pics. tomorrow.

body looks straight, paint seems in good form.
no leaks obvious in the engine pic...
looks like it's in good shape mate how many km's on it?

check the wiring behind the footwell bulb make sure it hasn't been damaged
or come loose.

Yeah it looks good from a distance but the body has lots of parking dents and the paint is chipped in a fair few places but luckily it doesn't have any rust, I can handle dents, scratches and chips but not rust. It doesn't look to have any major engine leaks and as for km's it has 257,xxx.

Thanks for the tip I will check it out.

Thanks,
Rick
