I drove around for seven years in a 1500 Charade as a go to work car and weekend hack...
Go better than people think...EFI etc too...
Some early cars listed above can be gas gusslers...
The 20 valve Corolla would be import or import engine fitted...
The std engine to go for is the 1600 4AGE twin cam 16 valve...
Imo with our lower fuel actane the 20v is no quicker than 16 valve...

SSS are expensive though... Nice engine etc...

Peugeot 205GTi?

Probly not suited to work-hacks, though. More enthusiast cars.

The N13 Pulsars go alright with the 1.8L engine and the manual box. Pretty tough too, my old man got 300,000km from his before rust got to it.
