mininova.org
thepiratebay.org
waffles.fm (needs an invite)
what.cd (needs an invite)

These all use the bit torrent protocol.

Try utorrent as your application. Do some research - it's all there. Even New Kids On The Block! Ewww.

Are you looking for free that is legal, or free that is not?

Just because you can download it doesn't mean it is 'free'. No, I'm not a copyright evangalist, just wanting to know what you are actually looking for.

There are sites that offer legal music downloads at no cost, and some performers are doing this straight from their website. Quite a few unsigned bands have a small selection available from MySpace pages, and so on.

If looking for music downloads you are 'supposed' to pay for, but don't, then these are everywhere. The above suggestions pertain mainly to this type of music download.

That's if a folder/directory location was selected. If not you could check under the program directory on your "C" drive to see if there is a default download folder there. Otherwise, try looking under C:\Documents and Settings\~username~\My Documents\My Music.

If that fails to help, then open the program and go to 'Preferences' or 'Options' and see if you can find where the program has been putting the downloaded files.
