HI ALL , has anyone fitted a power stearing unit in a 88 laser before ? my daughters car was not power stear but i want to fit one into it for her . i can purchase the complete unit from a wreakers for $150. is it a huge job ?

spare bolts
this unit may have a smaller filler tin or straight in to the pump just need the powersteering pump holding bracket for the pump the belt and tensior if it needs one or runs off the alternator tensioner use the right powersteering oil for the ford the two pipes (the end of the pipes may have very small 0 rings) any clips to hold the pipes in place against the chassis these joins and threads strip easily so hand start every one then tighten to fit rack the powersteering rack bolts up the same spot as the original undo the spline bolt at the base of the steering column spead the spline a little both tie rod ends to undo wheel alignment needed after :

got the power steer in no drama , now the alignment is way out ,the pasenger side wheel is very toe in and sitting on the tyre sholder . dont know why , i guess an alignment may rectify ???? hope so

measure the distance from the middle of the front tyre each side
then measure the distance from the middle of the back of the front tyre undo the tie rod end locking nuts and adjust the rods of the rack with stilsons (thread in or out ) so both of the meausrements front and the back of the front tyres are almost the same this willl do untill you get a propper wheel alignment
