In which year were did they become law and introduced ?

Asbestos was outlawed in 2003, as for when they stopped using it in pads I have no idea.

when i was an apprentice motor mechanic in the mid 90's, there were plenty of brake shoes and pads with asbestos warnings all over them.

Still, don't breathe in the dust as it has metal particles in them, and it tastes yuck anyway

Should have been outlawed years ago.

But then again, profits before safety prevails.

There are still a few workshops fitting pads that they've had on their shelves for a few years (which contain asbestos).

As I read in another thread, the spraying brake dust with an air hose thing is quite common and very dangerous. Happened where I worked a few times.

So do I, asbestos pads work about a 1000 times better than the new organic ones. Absestos is really wonderful stuff at heat supression, its a right PITA that it kills people.
