Default The Big Bang!!!!!

Greatings all.

Well what can i say, It went BANG wizzcrunchgrind. :

Chopper's words of Bang would sum it up very nicely. :togo:

I blew my Diff up last night.
Never new how much mess 1.8 ltrs of diff oil could make.
Not to mention the oil was only 2 weeks old at a cost of $80 :

Hopping I did the right thing I called the police to let them know there was oil on the road that could cause an accident.
2 fire trucks turned up followed by 1 police car. :
1 lane was blocked off and the fire's left.
Then the EPA turned up to clean up the mess.
I hope this is why we pay TAC insurance and i dont get hit with a bill for trying to do the right thing.

Here I was thinking all the extra weight in the back of my ute was a good thing as I could actually get traction in the lower gears..... :eclipsee_
How wrong was I.
Didnt really think about the extra strain on the driveline with traction and torque.

Ohh well such is my life... :
I guess now I will have to looking at further options of finding or building something to take a bit of power.....

Daniel has pics that he can post and i will get some later today of the exit points.....

Cheers.....Kev

P.S. Anyone with a cheap BA /BF XR UTE DIFF pls PM me....

Best of luck and sorry to hear. BUT you do have the HP! Stick with bald stockiies!

Depends on what you need, i just had a complete new diff built for my XR8 Ute. I needed a new housing i saved alot of money straight up by buying a Brand new housing from FTG auto salvage $600. I have also had a Kazz centre put in with the 4:1 gears i havent driven the ute yet i should have it back soon. I have heard alot of good things about the Kazz centres so i cant wait to drive it and see what its like

A guy from ORSM just put a new diff in his F6 Typhoon.

I believe it's a Kaaz diff. A little dearer than most, but there supposed to be understructable.

I didnt think you could put a KAAZ into a solid rear axle.
Thought they are only for the IRS set up....

Must be some new stuff out since the last time I looked...

Here a are couple pics....
Dont think you are ment to be able to see, what looks like a small gear through the bottom of the casing.

Also managed to punch the plug strait out of the backing plate..

Sorry the pics are so big....
Something in photo bucket has changed.

Fixed the pic's

Cops didnt say much...
I just said I had the Diff oil changed last week and i think it was the wrong oil.
Anyone that knows anything about todays diff's knows how important the correct oil is.

I changed all the oils (Diff, Box, Engine) in the Car before I went to Adelaide.
I actually noticed a little vibration, after the dyno comp, driving around Adelaide and on the drive home.
I handn't driven it since I got home.
Went out last night, gave it a little bit of stick from a set of lights going up a hill and KA BANG!!!

Cheers...

I think we should start a "lets get Kev a bullet proof driveline" fund raiser. :

Then turn it into the ultimate drag/steet ute. :evil3:

No T5's in Boss powered cars.

No good Kev. Mal Wood has a tougher diff now, but I"m not sure if it suits a ute.

This is the 2nd diff that has gone in a major way.
I have worn out the LSD clutches and other bits and peices but only killed 2 diffs.

As a std thing i guess they are not that bad...

I just went out and had a look at my spare axle..

They are 30 spline from factory.
After speaking to a couple diff guys today, I am told the std diff's are 8.6inch and going to a 9 inch is nearly the last option they would offer.(Due to cost, weight, new tail shaft ect ect ect)

I have been advised to go the Kaaz as KBBossedXR mentioned above.

I have also been advised the power I am putting out will be about all the Kaaz can cope with.
How ever I figure its worth a go.

Realy I cant complain about the stock diff.
I am putting at a minimum 550hp to the ground and the diff let go.Im really not upset about it. It's very very bad timming but it had to happen.

I will try pull the rear cover off and get a couple more pics to post later tonight or tomorrow.

Well i decided to go over to the parents.
Jack the ute up and have a closer look...

Better angle than before...
Looks like the spider gear almost made it out....

I started un bolting the rear case.
There was actualy still a trickle of oil in there.

I could see bits againts the filler hole and wasnt sure what would fall out.

Anyway here are some other pics for anyone interested..

Broke it well I belive........

Kev

P.S just fixed pic size.....
