Default Home made H1 Hummer on a Ford chassis/driveline

Don't know if this has been posted before, but I've just finished reading this thread about a blokes home made H1. The only panel he bought for the build was the bonnet!

Yes to most of those, but still, meeting the whole hog of regulations is only for large scale massed produced cars.

When you make a small amount... or 1, they relax the rules. There is a limit however, like 100 or 200 units per year???

Look at the modern turnkey clubmans made by PRB. If they were to be in a crash test they would fail dismally due to lack of cromple zones, airbag etc, but because there are so few made, it's not needed for compliance / rego.

It's like doing a 50's F100 in Australia - Drop the whole lot on an HQ Tonner chassis (which is the bit with the VIN no.) and register it as an HQ.

In effect, what he's done is a SERIOUS bodykit on an F150 SWB. It's legal enough.

Plus we are talking about america/canada...... NO such thing as ADR's over there!!!

read any forum / website about custom vehicles and your head will explode!

saw an article the other day about sport trucks..... want to lower your truck, sure easy, get some water pipe weld up somthing close to a chassis, cut some notched in your floorpan and away you go!!! scary really, just a shame there wasnt something in between for us here!
