Had a problem at work just a few hours ago.
Started up the car during work and noticed the exhaust sounded a bit different (think the Wrx's exhaust - kinda like a shuddering noise), as I drove away the engine light came on and that prompted me to pull over. Then a few minutes later I gave it another drive (engine light still on) and this time, the shudder from the exhaust was still there plus if I stepped on the gas, the whole car would shudder uncontrollably. Popped up the bonnet with the engine running and you could hear a faint "whine" emitting. Would anyone know what caused this? Or what's wrong?

I don't know if it would be the same problem, but I had to have my engine rebuilt by FORD. It took 2 weeks!!!!! Apparently there was corrosion of the cylinder head....

Problem solved. It was something to do with the cylinders and a change of coilpacks/leads? and spark plugs fixed it. All covered by warranty!

That's the one, the technician that looked after the car, drove the courtesy bus that morning. He mentioned that it was running on 3 cyls.

Ive got a similar problem, though my cars out of warranty :( (04 model)
When i turn the car on cold it shudders abit... then at around 80km/hr at 3000rpm it dips in power slightly...shudders...give it more gas and it pushes through it. I just had it serviced around a month ago. You think it could be same problem? I think I might go get new leads and sparkies and stick them in myself....
