Door Lock issue

Hi there,

I've just replaced the front left actuator in my car and it locks/unlocks fine but each time I open a door the locks cycle. The strange thing is that if a door is already open and you open another it does not cycle the locks. Any info as to why would be really appreciated.

Design? Sounds like that's the way they're supposed to work (assuming when you open the first door, the doors have been locked, and also assuming you are opening them from inside the car).

If the doors are unlocked and you open them, and the locks cycle, it would suggest that you have at least one more actuator on the blink.

Thats whats happening. Hope its not another actuator though.

You've got another one on it's way out. Happened to my car recently. I thought it was only the back door actuator that needed replacing so we disabled it until I got a replacement (because it was causing issues with my alarm) and when we checked to see if the others locked ok, it started cycling. Found the front door was on it's way out. Had to disable that door aswell. It was kinda like having a 2 door AU lol.

it could be that, or i found when i replaced my front passenger side one with a ba one it did the same thing, so i pulled my old one apart and changed the internal parts from that into the one i took out, no more problem. i think it only causes issues with au1 ones for some reason, i remember reading about it on here that they can cause issues with the fronts as the au ones have an extra wire or something in them.....?

That would make sense as mine's an AU1.

There has been someone selling actuator's on ebay and claiming that he has replaced the plastic cogs with metal ones. Not sure how good they r but it's a good idea if it works. Might be woth looking at those for replacements.

That's interesting. I thought it was the AU2 onwards that had extra wiring because of the ability to lock one door or all with the remote as opposed to series 1's.

i think it was some sort of signal wire that sent info to the bem...i'll have a look and see if i can find it again
