Further to LPGUTE's thread on wheel studs:
Why do some AU's have long wheel studs on the rear? When I was a taxi mechanic i never seemed to work out why. I don't think it was IRS or LSD. Anyone know?

Let's just say, I didn't fancy the bearing falling into 3 separate pieces, so in the end, a grinder on the longer studs did the trick I needed it to do (shorten the studs to fit the special wheel nuts that had to be used with the wheels I had bought).

yeah, it always seemed luck of the draw from what i found. i wonder if there is any differential differences with them. I only ever saw long ones on the rear, and only in sets.
