I personally don't see how that will produce a noticeable amount of power, but in saying that, it won't lose power either.
where abouts do mean? underneath the head light? i got ABS to. how won't it produce power? standard intake is tiny and no air is guided up there, with mine the air that comes through the holes in the front of the bonnet gets throwin' straight up into the intake.

ss inductions has the same setup for their xr intakes, a ram to push air up into the intake. not saying it makes much difference tho as i havent got one....

when i first saw the picture i thought u meant u gained power by taking the engine out lol

what would happen if you could cool the air inside the airbox? like a refigerator, would this do anything, real good read for those that know nothing about it (like myself).

So I guess I am asking, if all that dense air is good, and you can take out of the equation the restriction bit?, would colder air be better than ambient air? or would this have a negative effect... also I know I am going get told off, but what about forced air via a fan for bigger CFM. or could your draw the exhaust gases out quicker

I like the example of how it works, air pushed in, air mixed and igntited, air exits..

just asking ;)

note : I have no idea if it works or not, not kknowledgable enough to tell

And cold air will improve performance. Some people have spent big dollars making custom intercoolers with icebox setups to cool the air in the intake.

For drag strip runs, some people put dry ice in their airbox to try and cool the air.

Dry Ice is solid carbon dioxide. Its cooling the air, and adding a crap load of C02 into the intake as it melts. You would be better off using something like frozen gel packs. Or, just install an intercooler, what it does for a turbo, it can do for a NA engine.

what are you on tonight... pass some over here.

think about how quickly a piston is moving up and down per sec. times this by how many cylinders you have got. get the picture of how much air is drawn into engine.
these would do nothin but be a restriction.

anyways, give it a go and let us know. I dont know everythin

You want cold air and power. How about plumbing liquid oxygen into your airbox. That will give the desired effect. O but consider it is 100% o2 unlike NOS which is nowhere near that. You'll wanna be carefull with it. I think B O O M big B O O M might be in order. I've thought about trying it as i have access to unlimited LOX. But im a bit scared to be honest.

I'm not sure how many people used to read Zoom magazine when Julian Edgar wrote it, it was a really good magazine focusing on budget performance back then.

Anyway, they looked into using liquid oxygen and compressed oxygen instead of nitrous oxide. The problem they had was finding someone who would clean the parts properly while still keeping the cost down to make it reasonable. With compressed oxygen, if you get even the smallest amount of dirt in the lines or jet, like you said, there will be one hell of a bang. They didn't really follow it through, due to this 'small' factor....

A few people mentioned using the AC cooling the intake air, doesn't the new SVT F-150 Lightning have a similar setup??

what about a pipe from the air con turned around into the intake. Too bad the power to run the aircon is probly nagated the cooler air... :

What a classic thread. We've managed to throw in just about every cliche e.g. air pump, ram air, torque in lieu of power, denser air, oracle name dropping and even the bumometer. :voldar02:

There are the usual tribes; the cynics, the true believers, the ambivalents, google mechanics and the profiteers.

I'm with the guys who spend pennies and smirk at the idiots who buy bling & placebo noise for the same blip in the power curve.
