Default External Media Players

Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone has purchased one of these and what they thought of it. And more importantly what to look out for........

Here is an example of what I am looking at buying.

I have a mediagate MG-35 media player which I absolutely love.

The one you have linked too looks pretty good. The only things not mentioned in the add which I think are valuable are a LAN and wireless connection so that you can transfer files to the device without unplugging it from the TV and connecting it to the PC every time. It doesnt sound like a big deal but trust me, it gets annoying over time.

The other thing that is important is the availability of firmware upgrades on the products' website. As new versions of DIVX or other codecs get released you will want to be able to update the media player to play those kinds of files, so you need to know that you can upgrade the firmware to support these formats.

Good luck and enjoy.

I have an early model, and it's great up to a point, however it has a problem playing certain files and also does not like to play a scene with a lot of movement ie waves, fire, rain, jungle, etc at these points it can stutter and becomes very annoying

Seems to me that all models have issues of some sorts. Been over to the WhirlPool forums and people are having a lot of trouble with formatting, playback etc. I may just wait until they are more common. Unless anyone has a good report on theirs to tell?
