Default liquid silver color differences

Ive noticed on my au, that the nose cone is a darker shade than the rest of the car, and have seen other liquid silver cars like this. Is it just how they come??
i found a pic that kind of shows it.

http://www.aufalcon.com/AU/ACT/Act009.jpg

i though that my car had been in a prang or something.

Mines the same, was told it's common because although the exact same paint is used in the factory the car paint is baked, but the bumpers being plastic can't be.But if that was the case how come i've never seen one with the back bumper a different shade.............It bugs me a bit cause it spoils the look of my car in certain lights

I've got the exact same problem with mine. There's one going on ebay that shows this well.

the one on EBAy is definately a aftermarket jobbie so you'd expect a slight difference...

That said though there is no excuse why painters can't match the color for you.

I guy in the next street has the same problem with his S3 XR. SiIver is one of the colours that show up in repairs if the rest of the car is not matched after panel work.

My front bar matches the rest of that car but the back one has been resprayed and isn't an exact match but it is still reasonably close.

If it's an AU XR I thought they fit the front cones separately when they reached tickford, as seen by this photo during Raid#1. So the chances of an exact match will be less.

You notice the same thing with Mercury Silver on the BAs, especially the extra body kit bits on SR models.

This problem is very comon in the silver colour's, it's been like this for yr's and probably will be like it for yr's to come, some are worse than other's and it's not just a Ford thing, it happen's to all manufacturer's in the silver range.

I have the same problem with mine. Could it be that painting the plastic of a front bar makes the colour look different than painting the metal part of the car.

Yes that's correct. There will also be a difference because of that.

My guess would be it's because the bars and body are not painted in the same paint shops. Therefore the pearl/metallic flake will be applied slightly differently, changing the way the paint reflects/refracts light.

It can not be the theory that the bumper's are painted sepretly to the gaurd's because some silver vehicle's have this on the panel's as well, where if you look at one single panel it will have blemishes or patches in it, sometime's they look like tiger stripes, if you get the vehicle in the right sun you can see this clearly.

i reckon you're on to something here. Ever seen a Toyota Camry (1 before current shape) with this same prob? It occurs on almost every one you see, regardless of the colour! Yuk LOL

One of my old customers had a factory that was (and still is) contracted to spray the bumpers and plastic components for Mitsubishi & colour matching has always been a problem as the paint is matched in batches. I'm sure Ford and Holden's factory may be in the same boat.

i've had my bar resprayed and my painter said that silver is fairly easy to match but its the different angles from the quarter to the plastic that can make it look like its different

That's interesting because I was to believe Silver is one of the worst colour's to match!!!!!!.

given the right angle and sunlight, the whole frontbar looks slightly darker than the rest of the body on mine
