Default Feedback/ratings for transactions?

Hi All,

Just a thought, and it's one that's probably been covered a fair few times!

I was wondering about having a feedback/ratings system. I've seen it work well on some other forums, and I think it would be a valuable feature to help protect people from those that do the wrong thing.

I've bought heaps over this forum (and sold plenty too), and it's definitely a feature I'd use.

As has been said though, the FS section is a free service that already takes up too much of the moderators time, and I obviously have no idea how long this would take to set up.

Anyhow, any feedback on this suggestion would be great.

Thanks,

Justin.

the down side i can see to it is certain 'member groups' giving each other a heap of good feedback when they havent even sold anything.
also, the newer members who have zero feedback will be avoided like the plague - the same as with Ebay if you will.

i like the idea of publically letting people know of the shonky traders and the ones that stuff people around, but again it has to be done in a fair and consistant manner.

you can gauge a lot about a person by the posts they make on the forum.
i have mentioned before that the for sale section should not be accessible until you have been here for 3 months - that will allow users to see what type of person they are dealing with.

also, some members here have put the traders they are happy with in their signature as well for all to see, something that everyone could do.

youve basically hit the nail on the head - it would be a HUGE job to set up. Then as Dave has said, it would be possible to abuse (just like everything else).

There is a sticky in the FS forums that names and shames people I and other mods have had to look into for dodgy dealings, and I am always available via PM to look into anyone who is a bit suss (there's obviously gotta be a good reason for them to be named though).

As davway has mentioned a good way to gauge what sort of person they are is to just look thru their post history a bit - you can do this to any user by clicking on their profile and selecting "view recent posts" - says something like that anyway.

I actually like the idea of the sticky that names & shames dodgy dealers.
Good to see that the list is fairly slim (for now anyway)

Maybe make it stand out more, especially for new comers or regular users that may have missed it & don't know it's there??? Hmmm :

Good points there - hadn't even thought of the first one, so I'll have to keep that in mind when using other forums!

Yep, definitely something that people should be doing.

I know of other forums where they have a minimum number of posts required to actually post in the FS section - seems to work well and keeps out the traders faking as privateers. Again, it's open to abuse (ie post whore to get the minimum) but it does seem to work well.

Thought as much, and as has been said if it's open to abuse there really is no point is there!

Thanks for the feedback guys, was just a passing thought!

Thanks,

Justin.
