ICC remove/instal questions

Anyone able to tell me what this "Before attempting to reinstall the ICC unit ensure that the multi pin connector is pulled forward (toward the rear of the vehicle) until an audible click is heard. This resets the connector and allows for easy reinstallation." means from the bottom of this page

Is the the multi pin connector an audio connector or something?

Also, is the ICC must be kept upright thing a myth or is it fact? Can't see how ICCs could be posted if they have to be kept upright all the time. ICC in question is the Fairmont one, though i imagine they would all be the same apart from the different hardware in them.

please call us to clarify some issues for you.

as long you dont drop the ICC its fine. tilting wont do any damage. we ship them and freight them all them, as long they well packed and not loose in a box.

thanks Fadi - i'm pretty sure i got the idea of what the connector is, it's on the back of the ICC

this is a sticker on an ICC - it says scrap if dropped - do not rotate upside down

The back of the ICC plugs into a plug set "in the dash"
When you pull the ICC out, as in towards the back of the car, it releases a catch and unplugs. If you somehow push this catch back "in" you cannot re install the ICC as the plug wont go in and if you force it you might break it.

A bit of a confusing expalnation but when you remove yours it will be clear

Obviously you have to unbolt the screws and unplug the plugs underneath the ICC and the aerial wire as well.

Turning it upside down is just like a fragile warning, it is the CD player and all as well, I have heard people remove them with a CD still in and if you tip it the CD gets jammed and won't come out.

One guy told me not to turn it upside down because the liquid crystal would run out of the screen LOL

Really it is not that hard to remove

thanks for that Jastel - that explains it quite simply

i'll make sure the ICC is empty before messing with it - and keep it right side up so's i don't have to try putting the liquid crystal back in after i pick it up off the floor ;)
