Pirelli P7000.

Value for money. Sticks like Glue. brakes like nothing!

Problem is too much grip means too much Axle tramp.!@!! but hey, its worth it. Look into it!

Well the continentals came second in a comprehensive UK tyre test on the ST170 when it was launched, not bad for an OE tyre against aftermarket competition.

I also had a set of the Conti Sportcontact 2's on my Zetec with 17" rims and I can honestly say I've never driven a better tyre and I've driven probably 4 or 5 different typres on Foci and it was by a LONG margin the best tyre.

Have no experience with Pirellis so I don't know, but I can honestly say the Conti's were mind blowing.

I have recently put a set of Maxxis MAZ1 215/45/17 on my focus. They are way better than the Goodyear F1's I had on before that. So much quieter and a lot better in the wet.

Hi,

Time for new tyres on my Zetec (205/50R16V). I am replacing the original Goodyear Eagle NCT5s.

This is the result of a bit of phoning around.

Goodyear Eagle F1 $219 - winner of quite a few tyre tests, potentially noisy
Bridgestone Adrenaline $201 - seem to have stiffer sidewalls than the F1s
Kuhmo KU31 $185 - ??
Goodyear LS2000 $165 - Made in Japan from eco friendly materials :sm_headba

Any thoughts on these or alternatives? What's thge going price for Maxxis MAZ1?

I am looking for quietness, good handling and a couple of years (30000kms) of life.

Cheers,

MK

I have no problems with my Eagle F1's great tyre. I have already done 25,000 on them and still have plenty of meat on them. Little bit noisy but nothing a song can't fix.

I had the Bridgestones on my car... the price you are quoted is getting closer to the Staff price than you may realise.

They are VERY Quiet. and handle very well. They had a treadwear rating of 220, which i believe is a somewhat harder compound, so they last for ages (Bridgestone ER30's on my Corolla are Treadwear 260 as a comparison)

Cant speak well enough of them!

Im hoping for 40,000km plus out of them... would consider that a safe estimate.

40,000km isn't much... should be getting 45,000 - 60,000km out of a set on the Focus. Even I was getting 45,000km out of Michelins

Hi there,

I got a couple of 205/50R16V Falken ZE329s on my LR Zetec stock rims today.

I only needed 2 tyres (2 of the Eagle NCT5s still had 50% tread) and I'll probably go for the Bridgestone Adrenalines next time I need a full set of 4.

For those in Brisbane, the pricing below may be of some assistance. I was surprised how expensive the Maxxis were.

Beaurepairs Stafford - Goodyear Eagle F1 $254.00
Beaurepairs Stafford - Dunlop SportMaxx $254.00
Bob Jane Chermside - Bridgestone Adrenaline $245.00
KTAS Arana- Goodyear Eagle F1 $225.00
Goodyear Kedron- Goodyear Eagle F1 $219.00
KTAS Arana - Bridgestone Adrenaline $201.00
Bob Jane Chermside - Maxxis MAZ1 $195.00
KTAS Stafford -Bridgestone GIII $189.00
KTAS Stafford- Kuhmo KU31 $185.00
Bob Jane Chermside - Maxxis MAV1 $185.00
Goodyear Kedron - Goodyear LS2000 $165.00
Jax Aspley - Falken ZE329 $149.00

You certainly did a bit of research!!! After 4000km on Adrenalins... im thinking best move i made... cant hear any road noise from them... only the engine drone @ 110kph! Showing no signs of wear which i am also impressedwith, although i havnt done a mount glorious run in them yet...

1000kms on, I'd recommend avoiding the Falken ZE329s. Dry grip is very ordinary and I don't look forward to trying them in the wet.

Hey guys,

Sorry to Mine this thread YET again,

but i have stumbled across something that is worth while. Now As we all know Tyres are Extremely Expensive here in AUS For some reason. We also know that the AUS dollar is so CLOSE to the US dollar value.

I stumbled across this on the XR5T website as they have contis and get charged an Absolute BOMB!

One of the Members found this site and the owner is more than HAPPY to ship to AUS.

In total it will cost about $250 to ship a set of tyres to AUS directly to your door.

For instance i found the conti-contact 2 tyres for my 17's @ 119.00 a tyre.
Some Pirrillie P-Zere Nero's are $76.
Eagle F1- GS-D3 = $159
Contis 3 = $172

Here is the Site. Hope you all enjoy. i know this made my tyre selection alot easier.

I got the adrenalines in 17x205x50, but I think I overpaid at $275, fitted and with a wheel balance. They do require rotation at every 5,000km's though. Best tyres I've used and a much better option than the OEM tyres (goodyear eagle NCT5's). Better grip, noise and comfort levels.
