HI, im wondering the implications of biodiesel in the TDCi, ive tried to find information on it, but cant really find any i guess seeing its such a new car.
I know some of the older models run it, but you need to change the injector seals or something? Anyone have any idea..? 800kms at under $1/litre would be great! |

Bit of a risk, Injection pumps and Injectors are not a cheep item, Bio diesel tends to clog filters when you first start using it from reports i have heard as it tends to clean all the rubbish out of the fuel system.
If you switch to it make sure it is quality Bio fuel.

So it is possible then? I guess you could do the start on 5% the 20% etc, i know you have to change the fule filter and pump etc inc injectors...
Anyone heard of this or tried this? |

gull sell biodiesel which is apparently up to 20% blend, so if you run a couple of tanks of this first it should help you on your way, i wouldn't think the fuel system in a new car would be very dirty yet anyway....

i think its possible to run B20 without problems, intially your filters will get clogged up as mentioned earlier
Also car manufacturers specify up what % of biodiesel will not afect warranty, most cases its B20 (20%) |

Anyone got a price of fuel filter replacements?
Guessing it only needs to be done the once when it first gets clogged up then it should be ok? Or is it an ongoing thing? Just wondering the pricing options of a fuel filter vs price of biodiesel. Guessing not alot of people have experience with this otherwise there would be more posters? |

Someone at work ran the 20% biodiesel in a new Hilux and blew the engine, the manual recommends no more than 5%. Older non turbo diesels you could run it fine, but be careful with modern CRTDs.

Hmm i was told the opposite, anything after 1996 is ok, given a few fuel filter changes anything beore 1996 will have trouble with injectors etc.
