My brother has smsd me saying he's locked his only set of keys in his car and wants me to help break into it...ive done the same thing with my old xe falcon and that was pretty easy.
His car though is a Subaru Libery (bout 1992) and i know it doesnt have anything easy to grab onto with say the coathanger/strapping tape trick. Any ideas?

And you get a nice new window! I think the RACV can unlock it. They used a pump thing on my mates car when his keyless died.

if he is in the NRMA or similar their call out guy should be able to get in without damage. my brother in nsw is a NRMA call out guy and getting keys out of cars makes up a big percentage of his calls. i think they get training/ instructions on how to get in when new popular models are released.
or a locksmith should be able to pick the lock. if the lock smith wants to break the window i would be looking for another locksmith.

Tool places like Snap-on sell "break in kits" with instructions for all cars. This is what the RAC would have I'd imagine. These kits have specially designed hooks that slide between the window and door to pull up the lock. Bit of useless info there.
Calling them would be your best bet though. RAC that is. |

Anyone could just smash a window, even a bloody 3 year old. They'd make no business in the auto industry if they ran around smashing windows. If that's the case it'd be easier to throw a rock through it and hire a cleaner.

Packing tape does the trick for me. and for those tricky ones staple some gaffa to the kink. I always carry a bit in the car. I've helped out heaps of people. For some reason I'm really good at breaking into cars. Last week I came across a guy that had been stuffing around with a coathanger for an hour. I had it open in 10 seconds.

Do coathangers still work? I hear Tony Mokbel fully endorses them.
Sounds like they aren't quite what they used to be :P

RACWA will unlock it for free if you're a member. if you're not a member you'll have to either join up or pay for a one off service.

Either seperate the door from the body to reach in, use a sturdy but skinny pole to pull the inside handle or a strap with tape or bluetack on the bend.

Dunno what the Liberty interior door handles are like, dut with the EFs, I use a bit of 3.2mm TIG wire with a hook on one end and a pair of Vise-Grips on the other to open it from the inside. Helps to put a slight curve in the wire too....

Bang head against window, rinse and repeat lol.
Nah the coat hanger is a good way. I unlocked my old car with a piece of plastic packing tape when i locked the keys in last time. |

A big Jimmy (or crow) bar, just make sure you were a balaclava when you do it, just in case the window shatters and doesnt cut your face.
Long sleeves and long pants (adidas snap on style) for quick removal too.
