Hi All.
Im looking into getting an N95 mobile phone from oversea's they have asked for payment via Western Union Money Order, can this be trusted? I don't want to send the cash then get taken for a ride. Has anyone had any dealings with them? Thanks

western union - yes used them a couple of times very reliable.
sellers asking for money through them not so much, i wouldn't do it as you have no means to argue payment afterwards like with paypal or even credit card. i smell a rip-off. |

Buying one from Overseas I'd be more worried about the N95 being a fake.
How much is it and does it have GPS?....No GPS not genuine Be VERY careful, the Chinese are making some brilliant copies! A couple of places to compare... http://www.n95users.com/forum/genera...ew-buyers.html http://www.n95users.com/forum/genera...fake-help.html

That seems awfull cheap! Was that $400 AUD?
Check out http://www.n95users.com/forum Most of the people on there are in the UK or Europe and you can check out dodgy phones there.

Just because they SAY they are in the UK doesn't mean they are.
Although a great service for us honest folk, Western Union is almost exclusively used by scammers because of it's lack of accountability. I would be extremely wary of anyone offering goods and wanting payment in this manner. More info on scammers is available here http://thescambaiter.com/ - and there are some great stories!!

Don't buy them alot of scammers use the Western Union money transfers system because its hard to trace the people who own the account your sending money to.. I suggest using only PayPal, you're covered up to $2o,ooo insurance.

I'll second and third what ppl have said re Western Money.
DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!! It's a scam in the making. In fact, most websites selling things give specific warnings AGAINST paying with this method. Once the money is sent, you have hardly any recourse. Paypal or no sale. Also, if you are communicating with this person on an email acount that allows you to 'show full headers', there are free resources online that will trace an email to the city of origin. I have caught out many a UK person sending an email from Africa... |

SCAM!!
from ebay's own website Instant cash wire transfer- Services such as Western Union and MoneyGram are a good way to transfer cash between friends or family but are not suitable for eBay purchases. Fraudsters may try to get you to pay using Western Union or MoneyGram. Sometimes they’ll even email you 'proof' that eBay says it’s ok. eBay does not allow sellers to ask for payment by Western Union or MoneyGram. These methods are hard to trace and there is no recourse or protection if the item is not delivered. |

Nah, dont do it.
Especially if their saying you have to buy 2. Shouldn't need to buy more than what you want. Anyway, N95's are going at good prices via Ebay. i got a N95 8gb for $700 6 months ago. Awesome phone too. |

take 8 shiny new $100 notes and place carefully into a envelope, address to Nigeria via London . forget you ever had $800 or spend another $2000 trying to find it.
you will probably have the same result as if you make the purchase.

Never use Western Union transfer! If theyre seriously selling those kind of goods, they wouldnt have a problem using Paypal.

Personally I'd NEVER pay for something using Western Union. A mere mention of that name and I'd be smelling a rat immediately. All 419 scammers love WU.

I've sent money using western union before but only to a mate that was stuck overseas and needed to get home. Theres no way in hell i'd use it to pay for something the way i use paypal. If your not related or good mates with the receiver its not a good idea.

Neo there has been plenty of N95 here on ebay go for 400 and under if your prepared to bid on a few auctions. And from reputable sellers (As with the advice here, avoid dodgy sounding ideas like western union and people with low or neg feedback).
Lowest I have seen recently was a aussie n95 go for 335 on a early monday morning. Same phone same seller (big auction place) goes for as much as 600 on say a thursday evening. Just another option for you mate. |

Josh, according to that URL they only sell mobile phone accessories.
If your buying an N95 and it doesn't have GPS it's a fake. Check them out here.... http://www.intomobile.com/2008/02/02...erfection.html http://justamp.blogspot.com/2008/02/...8gb-clone.html
