People, after some advise/ideas on holding a car show in a small town. anything that is relevant i would like to know (please). i do want to serve alcohol so does anyone know anything about this either?
i want to know anything from what catagories i should have to appropiate entry fee (im thinking about $10 including lunch). Thank you every1

if you want to serve alcohol you will need to apply for an alcohol liscence

Yes you will need a licence for the alcohol. If you have a chat to your local police they will let you know all the ramifications that go along with this.
As far as categories and being in a small country town a Ute -v- Car show is a good thing. Will cover all aspects of interests that come with a country town. Things like best interior, best paint, best chicks, etc for the cars and then things like most feral ute,best B&S rig, best interior, best paint, best chicks for the utes. Then you can have a pointscore to get your best car and best ute. Usually after that we have a display (ours is held at our rodeo so we have a croud around the arena) of the best car & best ute and the public decided on the vehicle of the show (gets croud involvement too). Also you could have a peoples choice category. |

if you want it to go smoothly ditch the alcohol there will always be the idiot few that will get charged up an start trouble. alcohol free is better for a family event

You'll need to consider things like public liability insurance as well....
I know that the B series guys organising the meet in Parkes in September had to get that sorted out as well.

The BIG one public liability ,next sponsors the more you get for free the better
just charge entry fee the lunch ting is too hard as to different peoples tastes Keep it simple hit up local paper for advertising ,if you have a maccas try for stuff for the kids or stuff for goodie bags ie burger vouchers try the local auto store ans see if any of their suppliers want to get on board ,in the way of vouchers or product Insurance companys might do a deal for free public liability if they can have naming rights Get the local rotary club or school to do the bbq with all profits to them local traders to chip in things for a raffle or auction on the day before trophys and that will keep the crowd there for most of the day Thats just a few i can think of now ,i have run a couple of these and motorsport nights wwith auctions and the are easy Most of all good free help is the lynch pin Good luck

First up let me say that it will be about 100,000x harder than you think to organise - trust me!
Public Liability is a must - you as the organiser must have it and any vendors you get must have their own. If you want grog there I can pretty well guarantee your insurance costs will be over $5k - lose the booze and that will drop to less than half. You will also require a contingency plan for security and RSA documentation on top of having a licence to sell it. Most insurers will say that if you want grog there you will need to have security guards on site - that is licenced guards, not just some burly blokes you know. Ground hire will typically cost you and again you wont get it unless you have detailed layout plans showing entry and exit points, emergency access, public liability cover and a traffic control plan for both entrants cars and also public who are coming to the show. You'll also need to consider how you're going to "rope off" the area to stop people just wandering in and out - and this again will need to be documented in your insurance application. All entrants need to sign an entry form and on this you must very clearly spell out the rules of the day and also include a waiver so if something does happen to a car thats not yours you dont get an insurance company coming after you. On top of that you'll need to notify the police about increased traffic flow and depending on what type of show you want to run they will take an interest in just what you're planning - if you're looking to have burnouts etc talk to them first before you go any further. Thats about half a dozen things off the top of my head, I have run a large car show for the past 3 yrs now so I have a bit of an understanding of what you need to do. Give it very serious thought tho and be prepared to put some long hours into it. PM if you need any further info.
