In the last 12 hours, I've been complimented on my car a total of three times, which is quite unusual. Whilst my wagon's no stunner, it does stick out like dogs' balls but never have I got so much attention in one period, and from three very different people.

First was last night. Some random derro bloke (he was wearing mirrored avaitor shades and what looking like a hunting jacket... with a baseball cap)came up and asked me if it was mine as I sat against the guard chatting to a colleague. So I said yes and then he started babbling in some incomprehensible language about his mate who used to have an XB, hey look at the two-way tailgate, nice paint and so on.

I thought litttle of it.

Then the second came this morning when I went to the 7-11 to get some cash (no, I didn't rob the place!) and an old bloke pulls up in a white XW GT. I was walking back to my car and having a good gawp at his when he stopped me and complimented me on my car. But to be fair we spoke more about his GT, which he's owned since about 1973 and just can't stop driving it. Bits of rust here and there and missing a couple of badges, but it looked totally honest and very well used. Nice way to spend 3 minutes of your morning, I thought.

And finally I was not 300m down the road and an older more executive-type gentleman in a brand new G6E Turbo (which I rather like) was sitting next to me in traffic and was checking my car out. He even rolled down his window (OK, buzzed down his window) and said what a great car I had. Of course, I couldn't be bothered leaning over and rolling my passenger window down to say the same to him, but I mouthed my thanks to him. Then the traffic moved on, and we parted company. I hope he didn't think I was being rude by not rolling my window down.

Mad. And nice.

All that hard work has paid off then ;)

I think people that appreciate cars (from whatever walk of life they come from)
can recognise when someone has put some effort into keeping an old car on the road

muscle car or not... old cars done up....
remind us of when we were younger...
and when life was alot simpler

Top stuff mate well done, on Wednesday when i was out in my TE i had a guy 'thumbs up' me at the light he wound down the window so did i, and he offered to buy it. I politely refused though.

It is a good feeling to know that your blood, sweet and tears does not go un-noticed.

From the young kid's right up to those in their 60s and 70s (who when you speak to about cars; can spend upto 2-3 hours talking!!!)

You deserve it with all work you put onto it.

It is nice to be complimented aye. I have no Hot Rod/Classic by any means but when I do get comments i always recieve them when the uts is screaming for a wash.

Yeah, it's always nice when you get the appreciative gesture/comment.

Had the same in my old ZF 'lain. I only owned it for about 6 months and most of that time it spent sitting on the front lawn because my garage was full of my landlords crap. The lack of storage was the reason I had to sell it so quickly.

Anyway I had taken it to the servo for fuel and as I was puling out onto the road an old guy walking by made some nice comments about it. And it wasnt exactly in tip top condition.

It's mainly women that like my BA and give me comments on how nice it looks (which I definitely dont mind

Neeek, your wagon does look very nice, and they're getting rare nowadays as most of the surviving 70s models are sedans and coupes. Can't beat a nice looking wagon I reckon.

Man, everyone's a critic! (Are you saying my teeth are better or worse than the homeless man?)

But yes, your Big Yellow Taxi does draw a lot of attention from all walks of life, mostly because it's just so unusual - My ZH used to draw the odd comment, but it never really stood out that much.
