Just wanted to let you know that I spotted a McLaren F1 on Little Collins street on Saturday! Given that these cars are worth US$1,000,000+ and there were just over 100 built, there cant be too many of these around, especially in oz!
Its basically the fastest most power most exotic super car there is! The driver was looking very lost, but would have to have been someone pretty damn important though. |

They actually built 350 McLaren F1's. Five McLaren F1 LM's, and I'm not sure how many McLaren F1 GTR's. And no, they're not the fastest or most powerful exotic by a long shot. But they're still damn cool, must've been an awesome thing to see.

Koeningsegg CCR is the most powerful supercar.. 600kW 4.7litre supercharged V8. But it's not the fastest. Porsche Dauer 962 LeMans is the fastest. Its not far behind with power either... 545kW 3.0litre twin turbo six cyl.

I still don't know what defines "production" car. The 962 was a factory car, a road car, and it was "produced." They have produced 62 of them so far. So what's to say its not a "production" car?

not sure about this... but check out the TVR speed 12 (only two built, both purple, so if you find others it'll be the newer, slower version the speed 12 cerbera) they have 880 hp v12's in them... weight just under 1000kg and look like an insect mated with batmans car... but damn they are quick - too quick to be properley tested!

Give me a Mclaren any day. Im pretty sure these cars were built without budget in mind and dont think they made any profit either. Therefore you can expect the absolute best. And werent the cars produced for the better half of a decade+ ago. Id take one over any ferrari or porsche.

i'd love to live in europe, no speed limit on their highway, my boss just got back from there and he couldn't believe how you'd be driving along and then see a ferrari go past only to dissapear into the horizon a few seconds later! from what he was tellin me you wouldn't even sit in the right lane with a GT-P flat stick cuz you'll just have some really ****ed off guy in a ferrari up your ***!

http://www.maranellomotorsport.com.au/ down in melbourne has one for sale along with a F40, F50, Enzo & other exotics.
I remember a mechanic a few years ago crashed one in Australia when he took it out on a road test. It had to be sent back to England for repairs. My understanding of a production car has to come of a production line (as the McLaren did) rather then being a specialist handbuilt to order limited run |

I think most homologation (spellings wrong, i know. probably not the right word anyway) series' require 300 or 400 road cars to be built don't they? That may be a good guide to what can be classed as 'production', if the number is consistent...

The Dauer 962 LeMans does not qualify as "production" because it is a rework of an existing car and is not factory built - same as the Giacottolo was a re-worked Alfa, the Callaway Sledgehammer a re-worked Corvette, etc.
The CCC is the fastest "production" car, as it comes like that straight from the factory, can be registered in it's home country (the important factor), and has been verified by Guiness World Records. The Bugatti has clocked faster but Bugatti have not bothered to get verification so it doesn't mean sh!t. Surprised you saw a McLaren F1 in Australia on the street, they are not street registerable in this country, same as a host of other super cars, Jag XJ220, Ferrari Enzo, etc. |

And CCC? Do you mean Koenigsegg CCR? Production car or not, the 962 LeMans remains the fastest street car produced by an OEM vehicle manufacturer.
